    Total War: Warhammer

Also worth mentioning that DLC content is available to the AI even if you don't own the DLC. So you don't need to buy anything if you just want to see it show up in the campaign, only if you want to be able to use it yourself.

    All things Brandon Sanderson

Sanderson just put up his annual summary of where he's at with his writing. State of the Sanderson 2019 | Brandon Sanderson The most mind-blowing thing is his list of what he currently considers to be the full Cosmere saga, as well as the fact that at his current pace, he calculates the end of...

Time for more random history books with Randin. The Greatest Knight by Thomas Asbridge. A biography of the 12th-century English knight William Marshal, who's generally held to be one of the most famous and influential knights in England's history. Aside from simply being an interesting look at...

The Big Bad Console Thread - Sway your Station with an Xboner !

Yep. If you want the ability to play everything for the fewest number of machines, then the logical thing to do is buy everything *except* the Xbox, and play the Microsoft games on the PC.

Wow. Really wouldn't have called Sekiro getting GotY. Figured Death Stranding was going to be a shoe-in.

Hah! Are they actually closing out their announcements with a shitty licensed Fast and the Furious game?

The Big Bad Console Thread - Sway your Station with an Xboner !

I'll be damned, the MtG MMO isn't dead. No indication of how it plays, but nice to see Magic branching into video games that aren't straight digital adaptations of the card game.

Hey, a Drizzt game. Only, like, fifteen years too late, but whatever. And truly the most baffling camera choreography I've seen in quite some time.

Heh, and people are already working on making 'Xbox Sex' the standard abbreviation of the console. Gotta love Microsoft's naming conventions.

    Witcher 3

I'm the same way, but Christ, the Skellige water PoIs have earned their right to be an exception to that mindset. Do your damnedest to pretend those ones just don't exist.

    Control

They definitely need to invest a bit in improving their facial animation tech (the Mold Doctor especially was hard in the uncanny valley), and the game kinda does the "...And catch the actual ending in the DLC!" move, which obviously isn't great. But still, really enjoyed the game, especially...

    What did you just read?

Brief Cases by Jim Butcher, the second short story anthology for the Dresden Files. Christ, it's been too long since I've had a Dresden Files book to read; there may be authors I like more, but none are as readable as Butcher, where you can find yourself plowing through a book in a few days. He...

    All things Brandon Sanderson

I don't know if Mistborn 2 is necessarily objectively better, but I did definitely prefer the tone of it over Mistborn 1. The more lighthearted vibe was more my jam than era 1's bleaker tone.

    RIP Brad McQuaid

If Smed were still running the show, I could actually see that happening. Say what you will about the guy, he was generally fine with emulations, and probably would see it as a fitting enough tribute to Brad. Who the hell actually is running Daybreak nowadays, anyway? Is it someone the SOE...

    Total War: Warhammer

Snikch going full anime, gotta love it. The FLC is apparently going to be Repanse de Lyonesse for Bretonnia. Essentially the Joan of Arc stand-in for Warhammer. That also makes the second WH1 faction to become playable in the base WH2 campaign.

    The Dragon Prince

It really is remarkable seeing the contrast between the "last time on the Dragon Prince" segments and the episodes proper. That whole 10 fps animation they had in season 1 was bad.

    RIP Brad McQuaid

RIP Brad. I was casual as fuck back in EQ (yes, such a thing existed), but I've still got a lot of good memories of the game (mostly of me finding goofy-ass ways to die). Drowning in the stream in Kaladim because I couldn't figure out what the "swim up" button was, getting killed by Corflunk in...

    Witcher 3

Story-wise, Heart of Stone can really be played anytime during or after the main story. Blood and Wine is meant to be sort of the capstone on Geralt's story, so it should be left as the very last thing.

    Crimson Desert

So, what info I've been able to find is both describing this as an MMO, and as having you play as five pre-made characters through its story. I really don't get how that works; how does an MMO work when everyone is playing as Geralt of Rivia (not a Witcher based on Geralt, but actually playing...

    What did you just read?

Faerie Tale by Raymond E. Feist. I recently picked up a set of the full Riftwar series from my mom, and found this one tucked away with it. I'd never bothered with this one while reading through Feist back in the day, so I decided to finally give it a read. It's a modern fantasy story, in which...

    Sonic the Hedgehog (2019)

Replace her with Sonic the Hedgehog? I think I'd watch that. But yeah, this trailer at least looks like something I could watch once and be moderately entertained, and not regret dropping a ticket price on.

    Fallout 76

The honest answer seems to be that, over the course of the game's life so far, everything that could've possibly gone wrong has gone wrong at some point. Not just the actual game either, but also in customer service, monetization, and tie-in merch. The most recent snafu has been them...

    Diablo 4 / IV / IIII / Fore / Cope / Seethe

Well, if nothing else, they seem to be hitting the right aesthetic and tone this time around, which is nice. It's interesting that they're launching with so many legacy classes (and specifically D2 classes), when they've previously made a point of having very different class lineups with each...

    The Witcher

It's also worth mentioning that multiple PoV characters is pretty much how the books were. The two short story collections that open the series are Geralt-focused, but the rest of the books do bounce fairly evenly between Geralt, Yen, and Ciri. So yeah, that aspect isn't too much of a red flag...

    Marvel's Avengers

So far, it looks like the monetization is based entirely (aside from the box price) around costumes. I know they've specifically said that characters, levels, and story content will be free, and I think they've said there won't be any P2W stuff, so that should also cross gear and exp boosters...

    Fallout 76

It's legitimately fascinating to see how they fuck things up. Looking at the developers that are currently on the public's shit list, Blizzard is there for their political kowtowing, Bioware for making something so utterly mediocre that it's completely vanished from the public awareness, but...

    Divinity: Fallen Heroes

Well, I really liked Expeditions: Viking, so Logic Artists being able to focus their resources on their own IPs isn't something I'm going to complain about. And for whatever reason, while I like Divinity, and I like Logic Artists, this game just never really grabbed me.

    Witcher 3

I say this as a serial completionist who hit every PoI in Witcher 3 back in the day: Skip the Skellige PoIs that are in the ocean. All of them. All they are is underwater chests with random bullshit inside guarded by sirens; nothing that makes the time and effort remotely worthwhile.

    Everquest II

I think the Curt mob was part of a charity event, or something ("we'll donate a dollar for every time someone kills Curt," or something along those lines).
