If you are looking for a replacement drive for you to work with everyday go SSD. Its one of those technologies that once you go SSD you wont go back. Depending on how much data you have you might want to get an SSD drive for your OS and applications and a mechanical drive for your data...

There can be some parts that are challenging in both raids. Several parts require coordination as a team and specific roles during the fight. Most people you'll pick up in a group will be familiar with the strats but since this will be your first go I would suggest taking some time and watching...
