Day 6: 3 down, 4 to go! SEEDICIDE: Ferrer[7] got overpowered by a surprisingly consistent Chardy [27]. Nadal[8] was leading Fognini [32] by two sets and a break. At that point I suspect many people went to bed as it was already pretty late. I almost did, and it was a good idea that I...

Day 4: Round 2 is done and dusted! SEEDICIDE: In a match I did not see, the 17th seed Dimitrov found himself two sets to love down against the underrated Kukushkin. The bulgarian forced a fifth set, but lost it 6-4, continuing to eat the long shit sandwich that is 2015 for him...

Well... better nate than lever. After 2 hot and humid days (that played a part in a sad record of 10 retirements), the first round is complete. SEEDICIDE: Last year finalist and N?4 seed Nishikori had the misfortune of an early exit. It was already a bit unlucky to draw unpredictable...

    Metal Gear Solid V

There were some great great things in MGS3, but I mostly remember it for having a ridiculously long timer for things to go back to normal after being noticed. It was so stupid that whenever possible I just ran to the next check point and died to quickly respawn a check point further and with no...

    What did you just read?

Well... I guess the format of the thread pushes me toward this pretty artificial 'blurby' style, it's true that I turn it a bit into a writing exercise! And no, I have never been paid to write blurbs before. I have been paid to write reviews though, but not of books. I also sorta worked in...

US OPEN AROUND THE CORNER What happened since Wimbledon: Nadal won a tournament! Hambourg, a 500 on clay... and then, while playing decent tennis, he lost to Nishikori in Canada and to a very inspired Lopez in Cinci. Djokovic, World N?1 and Wimbledon Champion, played some topsy turvy matches...

    TurboKid

I saw it in a festival a couple months ago. A fun little film that avoids the temptation of just being a joke and manages to have a solid story structure the whole way through. The girl's character is very funny.

    What did you just read?

Just readThe Windup Girl, a neo-noir thriller set in a dystopian future of global warming and terrible energetic woes as fossil fuel are going the way of the dodo and genetic plagues of multiple nature decimated people, crops and animals. The book follows a number of flawed characters in the hot...

    Show Me a Hero

If I have a single complaint to formulate is that the number of unwanted pregnancies from deadbeat fathers is more than a little hard to swallow, even with the touching letter from the hard working latino mother. Also Spallone is a bit of a caricature, but it could very well be true to life...

    Metal Gear Solid V

There are several games in which Big Boss is the hero, but then, from Metal Gear onward, the hero is Snake, with Big Boss being the antagonist of the first game. Logic requires that we see him going from hero to antagonist. My guess is that it's what MGS V is about.

    Indie Games

It's not replayable in the sense that there are a lot of secrets, a leaderboard or multiple endings. Even the fact the island is randomly generated does not change things much since all the elements will be the same, just in a different topography (though it might take three or four play through...

It should be noted that while games are region free for the PS4 (actually it's up to the publisher and there are some very rare cases of region locked games I believe like that Atlus brawler), Most DVDs and BluRays are very much region locked, so your US disks will not play on a EU PS4.

    Twitch plays Dark Souls

The problem with Dark Soul is that the minimum length of a block in which progress is made is pretty damn long and the number of viable strategies is small when compared to the number of things that can be done.

    True Detective

It does not even have to play that way. My version is that Burris goes to the meeting with Holloway, stays back (like in the station scene later) and folds back when things go south, letting the mercs do the dirty work. He then uses his knowledge of the underground tunnels to beat Woodrugh to...

The story establishes Burris and co are familiar with the tunnels while Woodrugh is not. Burris anticipating where Woodrugh exits does not require that high a suspension of disbelief. Burris wants Velcoro, Ani, the hard drive and the documents. Since there is an APB on them and he wants to...

In the end that was pretty classic noir. The ugly world, remains ugly, the ones who try to redeem or escape their past fail (but possibly open a door for other less tainted characters) and the story is more about the trajectory of the flawed (anti-)heroes in a flawed society than the...

    Final Fantasy XV (PS4 / XB1 / PC)

This game seems to have pretty elaborate walking animations. In the above video you can see that there is at least three different cycles based on the declivity (or lack of thereof). I don't remember ever seeing something like that in another game.
