That's the thing -- use them all. That's what I meant by creating your own API. Under the hood, aggregate results from any number of sites and return your own, single API response.

I've used HTML Agility Pack, but that's for the .NET framework.

Doing a quick inspection of the DOM from a Tenor search, I can see there's a "search terms" element attached to each GIF. Are those the tags? So instead of using their limited API, you could make your own API that works by scrapping content off their web search since it appears their web...

What is going on with the Forums??

Not suggesting this as a solution, but have you tried installing a different browser to see if the redirects still occur? That way you'll know it's specifically the browser that's the problem. it sounds like it's a cookie hanging around that's executing a malicious redirect.

Dude, they all say that. But no one actually expects you to know everything. The goal is to show a potential employer that you can learn. Like I said, I think you should settle on a particular stack and try and become competent with it. Create a portfolio around it.

You're making a mistake if you're hoping around trying to learn the 15 billion different technologies. Pick something and become proficient with it. You'll have a tougher time finding a job if you're mediocre (or worse) at everything.

I'm just going by personal experience. To be at a professional level with CSS you really have to have a ton of a experience to be aware of all the little idiosyncrasies of the language. Also, you need, I would think, some kind of art degree on top of it. Isn't that a rare combination? CS +...

    Path of Exile

I was watching a video for PoE beginners and the dude mentioned that no one really plays on the standard league servers. If that's the case, then does that mean everyone re-rolls every league? Which means no one really has a permanent character? Or is there something I'm not understanding...

What's your opinion on GraphQL vs REST? We went REST for our Silverlight+WCF to Angular conversion and the number of end points has quickly grown out of control (plus all the authorization around each one). We began development back in '16 so there weren't real alternatives to REST. But it...

First off, I'm a .NET guy so I'm not familiar with Java/Spring. Although it sounds like it's equivalent to ASP.NET MVC. So, either framework will work. However, Angular needs complete control of the browser so all Spring will be doing is serving up a static index.html page to launch the app...

I consider myself fairly proficient with Angular at this point and I've tinkered around with Vue. React I'm familiar with from a high level perspective. To answer your question, it really depends on what you're doing. For simple apps Angular is an overkill. Vue is superior for small apps and...

It wouldn't be so bad if you could completely reset your tree and try something else. But I'm OCD and the thought that I went down some path and can't undo it drives me crazy.

    Path of Exile

God dammit, man. I'd like to play this game but I'm getting absolute information overload on what to do for a beginner. Sure, I've found "beginner builds", but I can't find a clear step-by-step guide on what gear and gems to go for from the very start. Guides are loaded with broken English...

Yeah I bought a TCL 44" 4K for PS4 gaming and could not be happier. Great TV. Only thing that stinks is that the Roku remote sucks batteries dry like a mofo.

No, since I haven't applied for any job recently. But it was rather effortless to put together since I already had code lying around. HOWEVER, for my current job I often assist with interviews. Some candidates give us their Github link where we then take a look at their projects. It no doubt...

I thought this was a decent video on the subject. I followed this guy's advice on how to set up a Github repo for portfolio purposes. I put up some of my more interesting CSC school projects as well as a couple of utility apps I've developed for work. It show cases a variety of concepts...

    Babylon 5

What's great about B5 is that you had a writer who planned the story from start to finish. Unlike most televisions series today where they start with a premise and just wing it from there (I'm looking at you, LOST).

    His Dark Materials

Way too harsh? I mean, I can't think of any show where I initially wasn't familiar with ANY of the characters yet cared deeply about them within 20 minutes? Come on.

    Babylon 5

By the way, have you guys ever watched Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning? It's a Star Trek and Babylon 5 fan made parody film. Special effects are surprisingly good. It's old now, came out back in 2005. But at the time the special effects were amazing. Humor is hit or miss.

    Babylon 5

Well, TNG used physical models (mostly?) and not CGI. Now look at Enterprise and that suffers the same as B5 in some regards. However, dude, it's not that bad. This is from season 2 and it's still completely watchable. HEY!

    Babylon 5

Sorry, I should have elaborated. It's not the religiosity that annoyed me, it's the fact that fucking robots who know who their creator is, and know that their genesis doesn't involve any kind of supernatural explanation. It would be like Data in Star Trek becoming all religious believing in...

I couldn't find an appropriate thread, as there doesn't appear to be a "Hey, I Got an Idea For a Game" thread.
