    Worth going all Apple?

Except there's more to a laptop than just the CPU and the GPU. The trackpad, the build quality, the keyboard, the screen, the weight, the battery life, the warranty, the operating system etc. etc. Those things may not matter to you but they matter to me, and that's why I happily pay the...

    Worth going all Apple?

I guess the high end stuff from Samsung, HP, Asus, Lenovo, etc. is all overpriced then, too? You don't compare a Mercedes to a Mini. You compare it to a BMW or an Audi or whatever, much the same as you don't compare a high end laptop with a low end bottom of the rung Dell.

    Worth going all Apple?

For sure. Their kit is expensive, but I don't think it's a "rip off" like some people say. It's high end gear at a high end price. If you compare it to high end gear from other companies, it's normally priced around the same/slightly more expensive.

    Worth going all Apple?

Depends on what you're comparing them to. Like I said in my post earlier, I used to buy the high-end Sony ultraportables. My Macbook was, in fact, cheaper than my Vaio. Even looking at other high end laptops, Macbook's are pretty competitive price wise. The refurbs are a great bargain, too...

Yeah, that was a dumb fucking post. The only thing worse than Apple zealots are irrational Apple haters.

    Worth going all Apple?

I had the same idea so I bought a magic trackpad. Unfortunately, it forced my wrist into a weird position and I started getting RSI issues. It might be worth picking one up to see whether you have any issues or not. I'm tempted to buy a new desk so I can work out a way to make the magic trackpad...

    Worth going all Apple?

Osx86/hackintoshes. It's the best of both worlds. Build your own computer and run OSX on it. It's quite amazing how far the Osx86 project has come over the past few years. Modern day builds are very stable and can run on a wide range of hardware. I don't think OSX is much better than Windows...

    Worth going all Apple?

I think Macbooks are significantly better than virtually every Windows laptop. I used to buy the high end ultra portable Sony Vaios before switching to a Macbook and the difference in quality between the two was huge; Macbooks are really incredible pieces of kit. The reasons why I like 'em --...

    Smartphones

I have some gripes with the phone (I posted them a page or two back) but it's still the best phone I've ever had. I came from an iPhone 4s and I couldn't be happier with it. With a custom kernel installed, battery life hasn't been a problem, either. It's a great piece of kit at a great price.

It's definitely a Google problem. They've done an awful job of making the most of the hardware. They should be optimising Android and it's kernels to run as best as it can possible run on the Nexus 4 like Apple does with the iPhone - they shouldn't say "fuck, it's good enough" and leave it half...

    Smartphones

Yeah, I know. I was hoping I wouldn't have to fuck around with this shit, either. That's one of the things Apple does right - the iPhone is well optimised and runs perfectly out of the box. The Nexus 4, instead, is poorly optimised and the screen is uncalibrated. It's quite annoying. Still...

Yeah, installing a custom kernel improved my battery life by nearly 60%. Pretty insane. Other people have managed a lot more with some tweaking, too (http://www.abload.de/img/uploadfromtaptalk1355c3jb7.jpg). Apparently certain drivers and what not are poorly optimised in the standard kernel...

I use this Google custom search engine to find books -http://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=00...59:a1-kkiboeco It turns up about 99% of the books I search for. I have access to bibliotik but it's not too great. I'd throw you an invite over but I don't have any, unfortunately.

Yeah, agreed. I doubt Google wants to sell the phones at a loss, either. It does make me wonder what their launch day allocation was, though. 100k worldwide, maybe? It makes all the 'Nexus 4 sold out in 30 minutes!' articles dumb in retrospect.

http://www.theverge.com/2013/1/3/383...-sales-at-370k I thought they would have sold a million by now.. At least. Google and LG massively dropped the ball on this one.

Smartphone and tablets are enough to appease those people, too. Cut The Rope, Fruit Ninja, Jetpack Joyride etc. are enough to fulfill their gaming needs. Nintendo's only hope is to focus on the console hardcore, but they're going to be more interested in awesome graphics and stuff. I think...

I wouldn't take their opinion on 48fps seriously. Like they said, they had shitty seats and, as a result, the screen looked awful. Judging by people's reactions, 48FPS seems to be a 'love it' or 'hate it' thing. I've seen so many differing opinions about it. The BBC is filming some nature...

It's not a dealbreaker. It's just an annoying niggle. I think, had I not used my brothers iPhone 5, I wouldn't even list it as a complaint. It's just hard to deny that Apple's lightning connector is a far better design than micro usb. Nah, I haven't underclocked or anything. My screen on time...

Oh, I forgot to mention that the earpiece buzzes constantly, too. It's really annoying. I was talking to a friend on Skype the other day and I could barely hear her over the buzzing noise. I had to plug in a pair of headphones to actually hear her properly. The back of the phone gets really...

I think I've only once managed to put the cable in the right way on the first try. It's annoying. I used my brothers iPhone 5 for a week and the lightning cable just slots in effortlessly. The micro usb connector also makes a loud 'crack' sound whenever I insert a cable, too. It's quite...

I've had my Nexus 4 for about a month now and I really love it but I definitely have some issues. - I don't understand why I need to root the phone and install a third party kernel to get good battery life. Surely Google should have sorted this shit out themselves. - Android apps just aren't...

    Do you sneak into movies?

I used to sneak in to the Nokia Ultra cinemas when I lived in Bangkok. The cinema costs $35-40 per ticket but the seats are incredibly comfy. I used to walk through the back entrance and pretend not to speak English if I was ever stopped. Saw about 15 or 16 movies there. I miss the place...

Jack Thompson. Haven't heard that name for a while. What an arsehole. And this killing was obviously pre-meditated. He killed his father and then went to his mothers school and killed her and her class. Dude was obviously fucked in the head.

I just got back from seeing the film in imax 24FPS. For some reason, the film was a juddery mess during panning shots and both me and my cousin came out feeling dizzy with bad headaches. I've seen multiple 3d movies in that imax and never had a problem so I can only assume it was due to the...
