Will be surprised if this doesn't suck. DC should just license all their comics to Marvel Movie Studios.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Haha yeah. I had a User ID or like #140 on the official Vanguard SOH forums. There's was tons of neckbeard discussion back in the day. I was really excited to make it into beta. Then I logged in for about 2 hours, and uninstalled. Regardless of it was a good game or not (it wasn't) the...

    Bootstrappers guide to being successful.

There are obviously many jobs where the question "what side projects have you done" doesn't apply. But for jobs like programmer or technical artist, anyone who is doing passion projects on the side is vastly more likely to do better work on the clock. Both fields have near bottomless depths of...

    Bootstrappers guide to being successful.

I've heard one of the best programmer interview questions is: "what side projects have you done"? If they've never done any don't hire them. Anyway, I highly recommend the military, simulation, and training sector. Basically it is game development but (1) better hours, (2) better pay, (3)...

Pit bulls - The Breed of Peace

There is a database on fatal dog maulings on Wikipedia. About 75% of the recent ones seem to be pitbulls and the vitims are mostly kids or old ladies. There are links to the news report source so I suppose nobody can really call BS on these stats. Fatal dog attacks in the United States -...

Pit bulls - The Breed of Peace

This is the main reason I won't own a dog over 25 pounds. Too much liability. When's the last time you heard of a fatal YorkiePoo mauling? Also, their poops are much, much smaller...

    Valve adds paid modding

^ this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read: - publishers must decide if users can sell mods and they decide the cut modders get - Bethesda decided modders only get 25% of Skyrim mods, not Valve - Valve only gets its standard cut just like every other transaction Bethesda is...

Shroud Of The Avatar - Shit Went Persistent

Does any non-keyboard turner ever use camera auto-follow? I disabled it even in WoW, which probably has the best 3rd person controls of any MMOG. Besides, how can you jump through someone, instant snap 180, and backstab someone with camera auto-follow on? How can you side strafe, snare, and...

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

Last two projects I worked on we did extensive stored procedures for common transactions. However, all DBs were created and populated via plain text .SQL scripts (exported from MySQL Workbench), so very easy for version control. However, neither project was big data on 24/7 live DBs, which is...

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

Oops yeah, should have worded it HTML >> JSON. Probably sending JSON strings over HTTP, rather than transforming some arbitrary string sent via HTTP into a JSON string. But yeah, the converting JSON into XML to talk to a database is the big WTF. I'd like to see a diagram of this system.

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

This sounds non-sensical. Convert HTTP to JSON, to XML, to SQL. Then the entire chain would go back the other way for responses? I don't get it...

Arkk's Weight Lifting / Fitness Thread

What constitutes "all natural"? Anything but steroids? Just saying, you could approach the fitness of most of those dude in those LDN ads with just: - protein - creatine I don't have good genetics to be huge - 6'1 and about 180' if I don't work out at all. Clearly ectomorph. When I was in...

    Crowfall

^ Personally, the only reason this game even has my interest is the campaigns. It solves the biggest problem in persistent PVP games: one faction / guild / whatever gain permanent dominance over a server and the other side just gives up and quits. Saw it happen in many games. The only way to...

Our World - Built by the Rerolled community

That isn't so ground-breaking because isn't that the case for Second Life? Now if there was a real game there it might be cool. I have zero interest in 2nd Life though, aside from the technical:

Our World - Built by the Rerolled community

Also, unlike older versions U4 has no limit on number of players. Here's a reply from Tim Sweeney himself: More than 32 players supported in UE4? Max AI supported? Your main bottlenecks will be server bandwidth and then rendering player models if many are in the same area. Since you get a...

    Wasteland 2

Call of Duty : Advanced Warfare - Starring Kevin Spacey!!

Yeah TBH, every COD game since MW1 the MP maps have consistently gone downhill in terms of everything, including fun factor.
