I don't necessarily think it's a scam in the sense that he intended for it to go down like it did, but the fact that he took money from the thing to pay his bills and is now asking for more money for a project that is obviously vaporware makes me feel justified in labeling it as such.

Yep. Kickstarter pretends like they look into the shit to make sure it's legit,, but you're basically at the mercy of the people who you're giving the money to. The only thing Kickstarter provides is media attention.

So basically he used the money people donated to the project as a personal bank account. If that's not illegal it should at least be enough to keep anyone from every giving him another nickel.

Didn't people have similar complaints about SW:TOR? I didn't play it long enough to know if they ever fixed it, but I think the Hero Engine must have some inherent flaws in this regard.

I think I would be playing this game if not for the "one character is every class" thing. Why do they even give you more than one character slot? I like making alts, and it didn't seem like there was any point in doing so in FFXIV.
