    Depression

So I had sort of a--wake-up call? Perspective adjustment? Kick in the shins?--in my last therapy session. Despite those last couple of posts (which I may have been a little tipsy for... I know, bad idea)... I'm actually doing really well. In under a year, I've gone from having crippling...

It also depends heavily on the guy behind the mask. David Prowse was pretty good at emotive body language.

    Depression

So 30 years is hyperbolic. How's 16-17 sound? I went undiagnosed when my depression first set in. It's not hyperbole that I had no friends in high school. I wasn't even part of the nerd crowd or the band geeks. I didn't do any of the things kids do in high school because I was alone. I went...

Easier said than done... I've gone 30 years without having any of the formative experiences people go through.

    Depression

I'm on a dragon boat team, but they're pretty much all older. I do some music composing. I used to write, though that's kinda gone by the wayside. Other than that, I'm going to school and working. The school thing is kind of a non-starter, too, because I'm an older student. As far as other...

    Depression

One of the biggest drivers of my depression is loneliness... but nobody wants to be around a depressed person... so I continue to be lonely... which drives my depression...

Not sure how, being stuck in a catch 22.

Be excited. That's awesome. I'd say I'm happy for you, but that'd obviously be a lie. But I want to be happy for you.

I must be lucky to have had pretty good instructors, then. We've mostly focused on the structure of what we're learning. Why we differentiate and integrate and so forth and what it's doing. Yes, we eventually got "the formulas," but it seems like we got a good grounding in the theory first.

I'm still only on Calc2 (would have actually gotten a near perfect grade in Calc1 if it weren't for a couple unavoidable absences). Though I've basically taught myself up through Linear Algebra and some inductive logic.

Well, I started as a Physics major and immediately jumped ship to being a Math major. Hate hate hate labs. But I'm loving the math. It's disgusting. Ilikejust sitting down and working through problems. And they're actually kinda... therapeutic. I'm actually kind of happy being in school. I...

    Depression

Yeah. Things have been... well, not better. It's been liking picking open a scabbed wound. I'm currently openly bleeding, emotionally. But I can see how going through all this shit and just being honest with my care providers canmakeit better.

It's... weird. I actuallyfeel goodwhen I'm working on math. I was just sitting there after class today, working through problems, and enjoying it. I think I need to be institutionalized.

TBH the doozers would be shifty layabouts if they weren't put to work. They'd be pumping out kids, left and right, and the crime rate would be horrendous.

    Depression

You know what violence does for someone with depression? It only makes already low self-worth worse. Violence is the worst fucking "solution" possible. "Beating it out of them" only sets people up for having much more serious issues later in life.

    Depression

I can empathize with the desire to cut, even though I never actually did. For me, it was about feelinganything. The anhedonia was such a powerful factor in my depression, sometimes, that even physical pain was a relief from the unending monotony. I used a sewing needle. I rarely actually broke...

This is what I like about the direction medicine's been going in. Not curing disease, but making it so diseases just don't matter. Basically turning them into Furry.

And this is why you keep your doctor abreast of any and all side effects. Because if a medication is causing lots of side effects, it probably isn't the right one for you and there are often alternatives that will work better.

How about just answering the question? If he has evidence, you should be able to give a basic rundown of that evidence. I'm not asking for anything comprehensive. If what you say is compelling, IpromiseI will read the book.

Science!! Fucking magnets, how do they work?

It was a problem with Newtonian Mechanics. The precession wasn't accurately described using standard mechanics. It wasn't until relativity that we could accurately describe its motion as following the curvature of spacetime caused by the sun's gravity well.

    The Joe Rogan Experience

The thing about Dan Carlin's show... he actually researches and sources his shows. Which, considering how much information he's condensing, is a lot of fucking work.
