    Spartacus

Funny how much better the new Spartacus appears in this role than the previous season. Kinda wishing it'd go on longer or that they'd go off the rails for the ending.

Marriage and the Power of Divorce

Wouldn't have guessed 48%. In the Uptown or Surdyk's area, much of that diversity disappears. In South Minneapolis, the area is slowly gentrifying and the poor/minorities are visibly being pushed into the suburbs. On topic: if you're having that many difficulties with your significant other...

Marriage and the Power of Divorce

It does depend on the part of Minneapolis. But, if you're talking South Minneapolis around Franklin ave./Seward, white faces are a very clear minority. I believe parts of North Minneapolis are very similar. The surrounding suburbs are shockingly, predictably white in contrast.

    The Walking Dead

Funny, I was just thinking the other day how much more interesting this season would have been if they portrayed the TV's Governor as a more sympathetic character and less like a stereotypical villain. I suppose it's a matter of perspective; although, most of his actions appear directed at...

    Need help picking a game.

I recently reinstalled Skyrim. For mods, I just sort by top rated all time and select the ones that sound interesting. SKSE opens the door for other mods, especially from Skyrim Nexus, and SkyUI marginally improves the the inventory UI. I loaded up heavy on graphic enhancements with some...

    Archer

It may be because I'm mildly intoxicated, but tonight's episode seemed better than most of the season so far. Decent, not overly esoteric references, appropriate pacing, and amusing, small details.

    Girls Season 2

Her OCD might have been interesting if it didn't feel tacked on. Had pernicious signs of the disorder been portrayed in previous episodes, it might have added an element of depth to the show. As it is, Hannah just appears to be a random amalgam of diffuse pathology that makes little sense...

    Gravy's Cooking Thread

Tongue tacos can be tasty. Very mild organ meat flavor. That said, I've yet to have one where the tongue has been perfectly cleaned. Frequently, in tacos, you can still see pieces with the outermost layer of the tongue still attached. It's rather off putting, but in small doses it doesn't ruin...

    Gravy's Cooking Thread

That's the pointOutside of pasta, eggs, and potatoes in salinated water, I really don't boil anything. Definitely a high maintenance dog. We never did find a diet that addressed the shedding issue.

    Gravy's Cooking Thread

I really only boil when I want something bland and flavorless. Even braising the chicken would infuse more flavor into the meat, and it requires very little effort. I can understand boiling for facilitating shredding but, if you're trying to minimize the flavor/texture/everything positive...

    Spartacus

There seems to be too much emphasis on making Caesar appear like a badass. I say appear because it does not seem remotely genuine or organic in a show that's already over-the-top. When the Romans breached the gate door with the ram, I half expected the "just deal with it" glasses to lower onto...

    Archer

Now, I don't want to get off on a rant here, but this show's esoteric use of allusions is getting out of hand. The references are so frequent that they stop being precious. It's like Archer's success makes Dennis Miller look increasingly relevant as a comedian. Of course, that's just my...

Dragon Age: Inquisition (Plot Details in Spoilers!)

With DAO, my memory is more foggy, but I recall less difficulties across numerous playthroughs/group comps and a contrast in tediousness. DAO was tedious in the sense of having numerous, inconsequential trash packs that required a modest amount of orchestration and micromanagement; or you could...

Dragon Age: Inquisition (Plot Details in Spoilers!)

On the highest difficulty, the game just felt like a chore. Every pack/spontaneous random mob ring event required either ideal group composition or over-the-top finesse. None of it was particularly difficult, but much of it was just plain tedious.

The quality of the questionnaire seems little above that of the average web quiz. It might be more useful if it commented on its reliability and validity and/or provided studies/statistics suggesting that the compass has either.

    Top Chef - Seattle

I'm really not sure what, if anything, the finale format brought to the series. Perhaps they were bored with the tasting-like presentation of the other seasons. For me, in my finale, I would want the purest expression of each chef's ability without gimmicks/confounds, so a tasting presentation...

    Animated movies that surprised you

I have found memories of The Nightmare Before Christmas; although, I don't imagine it has held up well over time.

    The Matrix (1999)

I liked the loose religious allegory of the first, but the latter 2 seemed more like pandering or self-indulgence.

At least this sounds slightly different than the glut of clones as of late. I resent that I've gotten cautiously, dubiously optimistic about this game.

Side/stomach. Rarely back. When I read about performance sheets, I thought that was just heavy-handed innuendo. After some research, I was thoroughly disappointed.

    Girls Season 2

I was disappointed that it didn't end with her suicide. That would have been unexpected and redeeming for the episode.

    The Walking Dead

Seems like if you watch any 5 minutes of an episode, you basically know what happened in the entirety of the episode. In this week's episode, Andrea goes to a prison. Nothing interesting happens.

    Bedding Thread (NSFW)

I have a similar variation to that, and I enjoy mine. Mine is of the extra firm variety. It remains relatively cool and it's firmness is like sleeping on a dense bean bag/stress ball. I have no tolerance for fluffy pillows.

    Spartacus

I don't know if they're trying to portray her as a badass as much as clumsily trying to portray her as exhibiting PTSD from the rape/violence while trying to make her a badass. The character is rather flat like Lori from The Walking Dead. The previous Naevia had a sweet innocence that made her...

    Top Chef - Seattle

It was a pitty to see Sheldon go. But, on Top Chef, the person that steps out of their cooking comfort zone doesn't typically fair well. I hope Kristin wins. Brook's neurotic/Xanax quality has just gotten overly annoying at this point.

As far as I know, they are the same. Okay for protein, fiber, omega 3's fatty acids. They don't have an incredible amount of flavor, but their texture is like poppy seeds/tapioca. So, nutty and ever so mildly aromatic?

    Political Affiliation

I tend to be empirically minded and a bit of a nihilistic, so I reluctantly vote Democratic. Unfortunately, with our 2 party system, it's less about voting for who best reflects your interests than voting for whichever polished turd is the most viable/marketable product.

    The Walking Dead

A pity about the hillbilly prisoner. He had some superficial level of charisma and, with the changing nature of his story, I assumed he was about to do something terrible. I like how Lori is still ruining episodes, even after her character's death.

Burned too many times to be optimistic, despite the pretty art direction.

    Impire (dungeon Keeper clone)

Does seem like a good concept, mired in poor execution. Think I've crashed once in 5 hours. It's not bad, but there' just so much room for growth.

    The Walking Dead

I wish the the controversy of this show was based on its content, not its execution. For me, it's the erratic characters and the writing/direction that really hampers the presentation of this zombie melodrama. I just watch this show purely for it's frustration and water cooler value.

    Girls Season 2

I appreciate that it was unconventional and unexpected. It was not the same old episode following the standard formula. That said, it was just weird. It was a little too much contrived, abnormal drama and not enough comedy/entertainment. Hannah's outburst came off less a deep revelation that...

It's one thing is the sex scene somehow adds something to a story. It's another thing when it's entirely superfluous. Ham-fisted sexual portrayals on a cable show just get eclipsed by anything on the internet.
