    Mortal Engines (2018)

Agree, lots of plot holes, too many over-used tropes, basically no jokes or humor, too many characters they try to you care for but feel flat.

[CHESS] Carlsen vs Caruana - World Chess Championship match

Yes, and some argue that rapid/blitz is allowing for more "true chess", where intuition, game sense and gut play a greater part. A true grandmaster of chess needs to balance both fast and slow deliberations. That is why Magnus is the more deserving champion.

One thing they definitely could change is removing the rest day between every two games. That just makes the whole thing drag out and allows for more prep of safe sterile lines.

that's probably why carlsen is playing so tamely throughout, he's just biding his time for the rapid chess.

So Magnus has been champ for 5 years. Really even matches thus far, moreso than previous years I believe. But most commentators think a Magnus win in the end.

Science!! Fucking magnets, how do they work?

seems to me to be a general misinterpretation of standard chemistry, biology and physics. it's been quite conclusively shown that consciousness is an after-the-fact rationalization of pre-determined responses to stimuli put in a social context. some people don't like it and, like this guy, try...

then you have speedrunners that when they run "their" game, they get some 1000 viewers, but when they try to branch out because they get burnt out on the game, they go into a couple of hundred tops and can't make it. it seems much harder to become a variety streamer with a solid 1000+ viewer...

that's why successful streamers also get into sponsorship deals, charity streams and convention panels, to be able to put that kind of stuff on their resumes. it's something to building and driving your own media buisiness.

    Disenchantment

Watched one episode, very meh. Humor is very much modern Simpsons, and falls far short of Simpson pre-season 10 or Rick and Morty. Fairly generic fantasy and character types.

The Wire: Greatest Show Ever Made

Bosch is a pretty good cop show like the wire (although not as good), and they re-use a lot of wire actors: Marlo, Levy, Gus Haynes, Daniels, Ziggy Sobotka etc.

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

Movie was pretty meh. Sound track wasn't too bad, plenty of nice pop-culture references but just doesn't do as good of a job as GOTG weaving them into the dialogue, and doesn't mix seriousness with jokes in a clever way. The seriousness that is in falls flat, and the gags are too hamfisted and...

Pillars of Eternity, Obsidian's new CRPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate

Finished the game. Felt overall pretty lackluster, the final boss fight didn't really have any build-up and just felt like an obstacle more than an amazing finale. I can only agree with what most people have already said, the game seemed shorter than the first one, and just too easy. The...

Pillars of Eternity, Obsidian's new CRPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate

definitely seems like one is levelling way quicker than POE1, and there was some challenge up to about level 9, but since then encounters have not been up to par at all. it's really annoying to go through the intro sequence of walking along the spirit path, talking to the pallid knight, the...

Pillars of Eternity, Obsidian's new CRPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate

but that's how it works in essentially every RPG, one figures out that 80% of the spells are worthless and in the end you use 4-5 of them over and over.

Pillars of Eternity, Obsidian's new CRPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate

Loot was disappointing in DOS2 as well. This game has way more variety in gameplay, and world exploration. Thus far, playing with only story characters, this game is way harder than DOS2, which was easy on hardest difficulty and lone wolf.

Pillars of Eternity, Obsidian's new CRPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate

The enemy ship combat AI feels kind of dumb/random, some weird decisions made there. Pillars of eternity 1 and likely 2 is definitely solo-able, even on hardest, but as with BG, it requires quite a bit of detailed game knowledge or will take a long time to solo. There's no "solo option" like in...

Thus far the amount of text-based events seems greatly increased, with the adventure map travelling, the design of the text-event interactions in general gives a feeling similar to the Merecaster system in Tides of Numenera rather than POE1. The graphics seems in general a bit more similar to...
