According to theFDIC, 75% of American households believe they could not come up with $2,000 in 30 days. It's not at all surprising that people prefer payment plans to paying $500 upfront. It's not even such a bad deal... with the T-Mobile value plans, you'd save $130 over 2 years, or about...

So... I posted it on Ebay and with 8 days left, the thing is up to $100. The two people who had the top bids so far have 0 and 1 review, respectively. Should I be suspicious? I mean, why would you pay $100+ for a defective phone? Assuming I wait for them to pay (with paypal) before sending...

    NZBMatrix is dead. What now?

Maybe you can cut down on the hardware requirements by only indexing TV Shows? (Not that movies wouldn't be cool also... but those are probably more likely to be a target for takedown notices.)

I use the $30 plan from T-Mobile... 100 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited web (with 5GB at 4G). Additional minutes are 10c/min, and I do use up to 200 minutes per month, so the plan really costs me closer to $40. Still a good deal, though. I tried making calls through GrooveIP, but while the...

What about Sick Beard's Index and Womble's Index? Aren't both of those indexing newsgroups? Haven't relied on either of them, but they're both integrated with SickBeard.

    Service Providers (Internet, TV, Etc)

They don't need to bring it to all households, or even half of all households. They need to bring it to New York, Chicago, LA, San Francisco... basically, the major population hubs where people also have a demand for broadband. The interesting cost to quote would have been covering some of the...

Prove Your Worth, Diversify My Portfolio

This is definitely not the case in the US. You are taxed on dividends both in mutual funds and ETFs, unless they are in a tax deferred account. It does not matter whether or not you reinvest them for tax purposes - "reinvesting" just automates the process of buying new shares with the payout.

    Free Papa John's Pizza

Due to lack of interest, let the search bots have it - t9k4phrjd6jj I guess if anyone actually orders from them, free beats non-free, right?

    Free Papa John's Pizza

No idea where to post this, but I got a coupon code for a free large, one-topping pizza. (some ridiculous 2 million pizza giveaway...) First person to PM me gets it.

I managed to drop my HTC One S into water... the phone starts up again, receives emails and messages, but the touchscreen is completely non-responsible. The incident happened about two weeks ago and I tried putting it in rice. Is there anything else I should try that might fix it? Is it...

    Airbnb

Has anyone booked a room through airbnb? I'm going to be in a town for a couple days where I don't know anyone, and I figure this might be an interesting alternative to booking a hotel. I found a place with a private room and I don't plan on spending much time in the apartment anyway. Also, it's...

Prove Your Worth, Diversify My Portfolio

Sorry, I'm still not getting it. I agree with everything you said about regular investments, low fees... but I don't see how dividends fit in there. We agree that a firm that pays out dividends, which you then reinvest, makes you no better off than if the firm did not pay out dividends...

Prove Your Worth, Diversify My Portfolio

I must be... what's the point of dividends if you reinvest them right away? They're a taxable event and they quite obviously reduce the share price (given that money leaves the company). If I know I'll get $1 in dividends tomorrow, then I'll value a share at $1 more immediately before the...

Prove Your Worth, Diversify My Portfolio

If you make frequent, small purchases, you'll want a mutual fund rather than an exchange-traded fund. The latter tends to offer slightly lower management fees, but you pay a small fee every time you buy shares. I'd generally recommend the mutual fund. Now on to diversification: you want to...
