3d Printing and the Future of Piracy

I saw that Sad Keanu on theShapewayssite. I use Blender and they just put in some new stuff to make 3D printing easier, so I've been debating making a figure or something just to see how it turns out. I'll probably go through something like Shapeways rather than buying my own 3D printer though.

Google reader to retire July 1st 2013

If you dig into a few configuration settings you can get Feedly pretty close to the normal Google Reader. At least the way I used Google Reader you can. I've still been trying various others but they've all been so hammered it's difficult to really test anything. Reading Reddit and various...

Google reader to retire July 1st 2013

I've only used it since 2010 - Since April 7, 2010 you have read a total of 69,218 items. Incidentally, this is why I tend to be apprehensive about using a lot of Google's services in the first place. :P

I really like all the hand-drawn illustrations they had in old Nintendo Powers. I suppose they did it that way mainly becausegamesweren't big enough to have marketing budgets of their own at the time. Even so, it really gives those old issues a pretty distinct style that was lost over the course...

RM2003 has a side-view battle system. Every other one has a front-view battle system. Any of them that allow scripting someone usually makes a side-view and there was even tactical battle systems available for some of them. Since you can only script the actual game and not the editor...

Gaming Tech (future/past - Good, Bad etc...)

I rented the Virtual Boy from Blockbuster Video when it came out. The 3D effect worked well, and I never got a headache from it, but a lot of other people seem to. It's biggest problem was there wasn't a very comfortable way to play it. It felt like a concept prototype rather than a finished...

    Free Photoshop and CS2

You can pass on Elements, it's really just a crippled version of Photoshop. Illustrator is good if you do any vector work. Logos, icons, t-shirt designs, things like that. Premier is a high end video editor. Audition is a sound editor. InDesign is a publishing application. GoLive is a...

    Free Photoshop and CS2

Assuming you have Windows you may as well grab CS2 since they literally just have it out in the open onthis page. It's more of a hassle to download Flash Player. CS2 is 8 years old, so probably will run well on your laptop. It will certainly run better than GIMP does.

    SteamOS - SteamWare

I don't know if it's of interest, butLinus Torvalds talked a bit about working with Valve in this talk. I run Linux as my main desktop, but I'm still skeptical if they can make it a viable gaming platform. I hope they succeed obviously, but since you can mix and match so much stuff on Linux...

    Free Photoshop and CS2

I'm still on CS4 for the same reason (and even that one I didn't actually buy the license, the company I used to work for did). I've always wondered if they'd make more money if it was priced around the range of say Windows. I'd upgrade every release without hesitation, and I think a lot more...

Dunno, they still haven't pulled links. Adobe hasn't made any statement yet, I assume the execs are still probably scrambling. I don't think they can do much, as those keys are already everywhere and the whole purpose for it was because they shut down the CS2 activation server - therefore it...

    Free Photoshop and CS2

I posted it earlier in the Photoshop thread. It appears Adobe dun goofed, and it wasn't intended to be free for everyone. I'd hate to be the guy that pulled that blunder, this news hit virtually every graphic site and tech blog I visit.

Metroid probably would hold up better than it does if you could duck like you can in the sequels (bonus if you got the 8 direction shooting).
