The value of Magicians during grouping/leveling versus Wizards isn't relevant. By improving Wizards in group content their raid utility is much less costly to access. The opportunity costs for maining one also go down. Having their group game get a huge buff makes them so much better it's crazy.

Wizards are so much better with out of combat regen during leveling it's unreal. It's like a different class.

Level 2 Magicians are nice because you can get through the tower with a couple of them and nothing else. With buffs and/or gear you can solo them on just about anyone at level 1.
