    Extremely Cold Weather (-40) Clothing

There are those that dabble in cold weather and those that live in it. Here is some advice I have collected from those that truly live in sun forsaken country. - forget style - wool is better than any other material in extreme temps - expensive but worth it I have one of these...

The symptom is a denial of service and most people just fight the symptom. The cause of the attack may not be as understood. Most likely it is brute force password attempts - spamming the system as fast as possible. Could also be more advanced such as TCP sequence number attacks or TCP/IP...

DDOSing is a well known tactic for hacking. Its not just a bunch of kiddies getting their kicks. Someone wants to see if they can infiltrate or grab some login credentials.

Many in our guild have suggested this could be a multi-year game. I have been let down before so I remain cautious. If true it will be the first MMO since EQ/Eve to be multi-month let alone multi-year - this alone has me very excited. If it becomes a long term game - I do not fear alpha burn...

Wildstar Launch Thread - Server: Stormtalon | Faction: Dominion

Played a few classes during the beta weekend. Felt like I was playing Dance Dance Revolution rather than an MMO - with more bugs than ESO and a lot less depth. It's not a terrible game imo - just felt busy with nothing going on. Will try again when it goes live.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Played more this weekend than any game in recent memory - had a lot of moments where I found myself excited about little discoveries. Did a guild group dungeon and it was challenging and rewarding. I spent some of my early 20's running around Cyrodiil collecting skyshards and ended up doing...

I missed most of the downtime while at work this week. My experience has been quite stable and not a single rollback. This weekend will be telling so I reserve judgement.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

I came for the PVP but the PVE has surprised me. The game has pulled me in. I like the flexibility the character building allows so I can have some fun with theory crafting again. I also like the combat more than I expected despite the poor animations - they did a nice job mitigating or...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

I fear the headline may have been buried on this. It feels to me as though 99.9% of players out there that are truly looking for this kind of game are missing the message. I dont think we need more videos, content, screenshots etc. We need a succinct message. When you describe Pantheon to...

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

A few factors here. 1. Nobody builds for peak volume (nor should they from a business perspective) 2. Nothing else going on right now to compete 3. They didn't plan very well(at all) for these contingencies Either they grossly underestimated sales or they overestimated their hardware...

Dungeons are selling me more on this game. So far I like them and they threw three at me in a row if you follow the main quest. Just killed a blob thing and needed to figure out not to kill the add in order to pop him.

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

Just finished the first dungeon. Finished with a swift first completion bonus but was happy to see it did take at least a meager amount of tanking/healing to complete. You wont faceroll it without at least some cooperation. I hope this is a sign of things to come and it gets harder from here on.

I see posts like this and I want it to be true for me. Maybe I am playing the wrong class? I dont mind the GCD. I played FF7 this month to get the nostalgia juice going and enjoyed the long cool-down between commands and pace of that game. To say its better than GW2 or RIFT - how? I just...

Leveled Gladiator to 15. Leveling Marauder. Getting really really bored with the game already. Not sure I can be bothered to log in after 1 day of it. Save yourself some time. Game is pretty - has a story - gameplay is smooth but completely repetitive. Maybe it gets better over time...

What Made EQ Great? Tell your stories to a filthy casual

Real power curve and sense of accomplishment. Name any game today where you can clearly stand ahead and not attain 95% of every other toon with minimal effort. Incessant whining over time about fairness has resulted in a long string of changes by developers that have become standard in...

    EQ Never

None of the features presented so far really matter to me. None of these mean staying power. The only factor for any MMO that hopes to achieve greatness - is the reintroduction of a power curve. Honestly if they didn't present a single graphic, gameplay footage, or gimmicky feature and...

    Camping tents

Ground tents are old tech. Get a hammock tent, sleep off the ground/dirt/bugs/rocks, get the most comfortable sleep out of a bed, save a ton of weight......works anywhere with trees. Honestly dont know why they even make traditional tents anymore. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...

Falling out of love with gaming

Picked it up based on this thread and Force's videos. Did you enjoy Borderlands? How about Rift? Odds are you'll like Defiance as its pretty much a mash-up. Borderlands has better vehicle control, gameplay, voice acting, and character development imo but its not an MMO. Defiance hasnt...

I enjoy watching Kripp theorycraft. He can be a little narrow in his thinking (always going for certain paths/talents) but he does get creative at times when he pulls out the spreadsheets. Anyone catch the new build he is going for? Looks like something a bit new (not wand).

Also having some fun with this. Even with the instability I like it much more than a year ago when I played. Currently a lvl 36 witch near the end of act 3. I scored my first unique, an axe. I like the true uniqueness and power of these items, they inspire builds all by themselves.

    Well, now what?

Knowledge is power. EQ provided this scenario. The lower margin of error, the death penalty, where to best farm XP, gear that mattered - all required knowledge in order to succeed at the game. Modern MMO's (with a few notable exceptions) work against this fundamental concept. They want...
