It's better than both - all four - of those games and in spite of the difficulty, less frustrating.

Yeah, wanted to play Fantasy Life for a while but put off the purchase for many months on account of not knowing whether to buy it or Rune Factory 4. Found a really useful reddit thread comparing the two and ultimately concluded that RF 4 looked fun enough but that its gameplay seemed pretty...

Gonna have nothing to do for about 5 days at my parents' place, so I'll definitely give it a go. Also have Stella Glow, Bravely Default, Etrian Odyssey IV and Fantasy Life for 3DS, as well as anything that steam puts up that looks interesting and is laptop friendly. Fucking love this week...

Got all my christmas shopping done in one massive Amazon transaction and bought myself Stella Glow (at 30 I feel too embarassed asking for video games for xmas - I'm single so it'd have to be from parents...no thanks). Not sure how much I'll enjoy it but that game is virtually assured of...

I minded the rails a little, but what really puckered my vagina was the way the game consistently constricted what you were allowed to develop in the Crystarium so that you wouldn't roflstomp the big bad in the next hallway.

I dunno man, I expect to end up liking it, as I've heard a lot of good thing from people who hated 13. But I've already seen the abysmal framerates you're talking about and those, compounded with aliasing issues that either weren't there or were barely perceptible in 13, have me scratching my...

Started 13-2 instead of Omega Quintet since I've been on an FF kick. So far it seems like 13 with a God of War fetish and worse graphics - seriously, that's PS2-era aliasing on Serah's hair. 13 vanilla looks way better, wtf - but I'm only half an hour into it.

I think I beat Fire Emblem in like 50 hours, but I'm really not at all sure - it's been a while. Utterly, utterly fantastic. Still haven't beaten Bravely Default and am probably just gonna start over in anticipation for Bravely Second.

Got my first plat today - FFVII. I don't usually go out of my way to get trophies, but I'll get what I can without extra legwork. FFVII has pretty much no added legwork, though, aside from three or four missable trophies. With 3x speed, got got Knights of the Round, gold chocobo, killed Ruby and...

Sorry, meant post-SNES era since you've played those. VI and tactics are my favorites in the series and rank highly in my all-time favorites.

    Final Fantasy VII Remake

IX is something of a fan-favorite if you don't mind retro graphics and it really is quite good. It shirks the Scifi setting of VII and VIII pretty much altogether. X along with VII is considered (no citation but for the legion of admirers I encounter on various forums) to be the apex of the...

    Final Fantasy VII Remake

The draw mechanic was a cool idea executed in a manner calibrated for maximum annoyance. I agree with everything else and consider it a strong entry, although I consider them all strong, excepting FFXIII.

I loved Graces's combat (rest of the game was shit). Can't stand MH combat either, but I love Dark Souls and they seem kinda similar, go figure.

I've been playing it since launch and still haven't beaten it. It's just been a struggle through and through, and I'm a huge jrpg enthusiast. And imo the combat is the weakest by far of any PS3-and-later-era entry.

Star Wars: Battlefront, as told by Dice on Frostbite 3 (PS4?/XBone?/PC?)

I definitely don't want this to fail for the rather simple reason that I do want to play a good Battlefront game in the future.

    Final Fantasy VII Remake

12 was badass and 13 remains the only terrible main-series entry imo. Haven't played 1-3, 5 or any of 13's sequels, though.

XieJing still the hardest imo unless Lucius -who I haven't tried yet - is harder. I beat Gazia pretty much on auto and Ark on third attempt.

Persona Q is pretty good, but your opinion thereof will be determined by how much you like the Persona cast, because from a strict gameplay/story perspective it's not on the level of P3/4. A lot of Etrian enthusiasts claim it's not on the level of Etrian, either, but I haven't played them so I...

    Final Fantasy VII Remake

I've always considered VII a merely above-average entry in the series, but despite the depths reached by some of the worst entries (hi 13), above-average still means very good for this series. Anyway, I'm playing the PS4 rerelease and I can't believe how well it's held up (although the 3x...

The Witcher 3 I appreciated more than enjoyed, and did so on the same grounds that underlie your trepidation - I also dislike open-world games, and despite the violent proclamations on this board that the Witcher 3isn'topen-world, it was too open for me and featured too many (imo) flaws...

Leveling faith concurrently with int will allow you to cast hex spells, some of which are very potent until you hit the DLC. Stat requirements are obscene if you're going for that and melee capability, but like I said earlier with 30 int/faith and like 40 dex I had a "caster" scythe that did...

Elated to read that, Crone! When I did my caster build I found myself gravitating more towards a battlemage and ended up hitting almost as hard as my STR character with my scythe, with the additional benefit of spells, with sacrifices made in beefiness. In other words, ranged AND melee glass...

Lol, for me it was the level with the massive eye/brain - i forget what those things were - in the chamber. The outdoor section of that level - the first third, I guess - at one point had me doubting my ability to finish the game. Nothing else in the game was even close.

Shit, I had trouble in Cardinal Tower too. 2 just gets easier over time; 1 is all over the place; BB starts hard, gets easier, then ends hard, especially that nightmare level with the brain or eye or whatever.

    The RPG Thread

I dunno. Bloodborne's later levels get really hard, but the game is just a lot more fluid and responsive. I vastly prefer Dark Souls but think Bloodborne might make a really good entry point if the former fails. I dunno, though - the levels are definitely harder in BB.

MORE DARK SOULS! Oh, fine. Actually, not sure what to suggest - do you like JRPG's? There's a plentitude of good action JRPG's, but - outside of this thread, anyway - not many people here like them. If you do, Tales of Zestiria isn't the best, but it's probably the one freshest in memory for...
