Your best raid or mass pvp experience across the genre?

I count Onyxia in early WoW as my favorite raid. At the time, it felt so unique, the dragon looked and acted like a dragon, it was an intense fight. I remember smoking a Cuban I had stashed for a rainy day the first time my guild brought her down during vanilla.

What Made EQ Great? Tell your stories to a filthy casual

Shit like that has really never happened in any game before or since. That is the essence of EQ right there, stories like Herv's.

Project 1999 - Making Norrath Great Again

I did notice that Rangers and Paladins seem to be almost extinct here. Only a handful non-anon on at any given time, even at peak hours. A bit more Shadowknights, but not by much. I guess people don't want to go through the XP penalty bullshit anymore, hehe.

Project 1999 - Making Norrath Great Again

I just started on this last week as an SK. I was never a power raider, though I did do a fair bit for awhile in PoP, I really just decided to check it out because a friend mentioned it to me and I wanted to see what it was all about. What a crazy nostalgic experience, good Lord. Just hearing...

    SWTOR

I enjoy it still because it very casual, I can get a lot of crap done solo, with all of the servers consolidated it is easy to find a group for most anything while levelling or for a flashpoint when I have the time for it (well, as long as you are a tank or healer). I'm past the point of trying...

Those kinds of stories bridge all demographics in their appeal...with the noted exception of the demographic who plays games likes Dragon Age.

    EQ Never

SWTOR does this with 'Story Mode', watered down versions of the real thing. You still get shit from it, but it is lesser quality than what you get from the hard or nightmare mode or whatever. So you can get together with whoever and see the story play out, and not really be taxed, but the...

    SWTOR

I have to agree, this F2P is more like Free 2 Preview, before you just crack down and sub. On the surface, the cash store looks pretty much like a great implementation - all cosmetic type stuff. Then you get into it and realize it is fail, because of the weekly space mission/FP caps, credit...

Is that Mt. Rainier? Would put you in Seattle I reckon, though I know shit about Coast Guard postings and bases that aren't Cape May. As for officer pay and such, it starts out blah as an O1, but by the time you are an O3, it really isn't bad when you add in BAH, BAS, the other shit they...

    The Conjuring

I met Ed and Lorraine Warren once at a university in Pennsylvania, hell, over 15 years ago now, they gave a lecture about paranormal activity. I remember it was punctuated by strange events, noises, people flat out leaving because they were freaked out. Of course, I thought, shit, they rigged...

GoT - Is Over, Post Your Drogon Sightings

I thought that shit was as well done as it possibly could be. They captured that shit really well, even knowing what was going to happen, I was still fairly shocked. The whole Talisa stabbing scene was a big old, 'fuck you book readers, think this couldn't get any worse? It just fucking...

    Neverwinter: PC

It is still in "open beta", but they are not wiping characters, they are taking people's money, so the game is essentially launched. I do love how nearly everything they put out still has open beta on it, though, like it's an excuse. 'thanks for your patience with this unscheduled downtime...

Crafting starts at level 10, it is kind of like SWTOR's crafting. There is no quest or whatnot to pick your profession, you just open the crafting panel at level 10, pick one of the professions and start doing tasks for it. You can manage it offline from gateway.playneverwinter.com as well...

    Neverwinter: PC

There is no doubt that there are going to be people who love it, because it's DnD and Forgotten Realms and kind of action-y and it's free and if you paid enough money you got a shiny black panther companion, yadda yadda. You are right though, it is not a very good game. The only real draw is...

    Neverwinter: PC

Hopefully they made identify scrolls purchaseable with regular gold instead of goddamned astral diamonds or whatever. That is a serious pain in the ass. And no gold auction house either is kind of meh. Though maybe the diamonds are more accessible now; I seem to remember getting the STO...

    Neverwinter: PC

I agree - arcade-y is the best way to describe it. I definitely felt it would be better played with an xbox controller. One major MAJOR downer was no identify scrolls that you could buy with silver/gold; it appears they are only available via astral diamonds (the dilithium crystals of NW)...

My hope is that this is what DDO should have been. My fear is that it is a poorly done Diablo 3. I guess I will see for myself tomorrow. As an aside, I will never truly understand why DDO chose Eberron. What a terrible setting. If I recall, that was the beginning of what, 3.5 when that...

    Lord of the Rings Online

I kind of liked the way they handled the gear reset - take everyone's seals, turn them into medallions, make the old stuff more easily accessible off the skirmish vendors. Helps bring people up to speed without having to bullshit through old content, while making it so you have to do the new...

    What do you do?

I will concur with McCheese and Elurin - getting into the gov't at other than entry level is damn hard unless you are a veteran. Or know someone. And it has to be an agency that is still hiring - many are under hiring freezes right now due to budget cuts, sequester, all sorts of fuckery, and...

Some things never change! You will find out that it is like playing a time warp, a nice little slice of 2007 for you. As for classes, my experiences are limited. I played a disciple to 30; total 'I Win' in both solo and group scenarios. They just steamroll across the landscape, dominating...

    Lord of the Rings Online

Steam had a pretty massive sale a few weeks ago, which, alas, is over now. If you are in the mood to play this, however, you can probably rack up enough turbine points doing deeds/quests to buy the expansions that way. That is a lot of work and alot of deeds, however. Just by normal playing...

    Pope Benedict XVI resigns

There is indeed, it is right here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_of_the_Popes Some of it is creepy close, alot of it is a stretch. I did see somewhere that a London bookmaker of some repute has the next pope choosing Peter as a name as the favorite. If that happens, then shit would...

I consider myself a centrist, though I put D in the poll because that is how I've largely voted the last 10 years. I was a hard core Republican through high school, college and my time in the military; it was only after I left the military, and realized that I had only heard one side of the...

Dragon Age: Inquisition (Plot Details in Spoilers!)

I just hope to God they take the time to actually finish DA3 all the way. I was playing this a month or two ago for a few weeks. Still pretty much the same as release, except there are faction grinds for gear now and a few new areas. The ground combat is still kind of sketchy but better than it was. As you would probably expect, all of the best ships are gotten by...

Vanguard - I don't give a fuck if it's dead, It's still brown as fuck (Download link in 1st post)

The best way I could describe this in its current state is Kunark-era EQ with a handful of WoW quality of life improvements (AH, quest markers/icons over NPCs, faster levelling and less brutal soloing...though not the 'any class can solo like a boss' soloing of every MMO today, or the ultra fast...

Movies That Would Be Made, If You Could Make It Happen

I thought an animated version of this was made a few years back, with Kiefer Sutherland voicing Raistlin. Those first three books were pretty poorly written, as I recall, but Raistlin remains one of the baddest-ass fantasy characters of all time, in my opinion. He was the one diamond floating...

    Lord of the Rings Online

I would say the combat is quite slow compared to, say, anything else except EQ, and hasn't developed much at all since launch. The abilities are more responsive than at launch, that's about it. Its not furiously mashing buttons, more of a slow poking at alot of buttons. The PvP still sucks...

    Lord of the Rings Online

Well, without subbing I do believe you can take the epic story all the way to the end, which is pretty much the best part anyway. You can also level with tasks, deeds and skirmishes - grind out enough deeds, and you will end up with enough turbine points to buy quest packs/expansions. Will...

Hmm, pretty much every piece of armor I got on my Juggernaut was black, red, or black and red. Sometimes silver and black and silver and red. What do you do?

Yeah, I didn't think that all the way through, for sure. I still personally think there might be a correlation, but it would take a lot more than a few posts on rerolled to suss out, and it would probably have more to do with personality types than anything else.

    What do you do?

Something interesting is that alot of the posters here seem to be relatively successful (compared to avg US wages) salary-wise. I bet there is a paper to be written correlating MMO raid success - assuming that the people who end up here were successful at raiding shit in EQ/WOW 10 years ago...
