Thread: Blizzard Conducted A WoW Former Player Study. Here Are the Questions Asked

Yea I agree with Tad as well. IMO EQ1 did the best job of handling loot itemization and its resulting impact on raid progression. Because the boss mob was permacamped, it took me forever to acquire a SSoY in the original EQ1. Its been so long since I've played I don't remember all the...

Thread: Blizzard Conducted A WoW Former Player Study. Here Are the Questions Asked

I am going to fully agree with you for once. It takes forever for Blizzard to produce new content. The question is why? Vanilla WoW was probably the most fun I've ever had playing a MMO. Why couldn't Blizzard just keep following that formula? There are likely numerous answers to that...

Wildstar Launch Thread - Server: Stormtalon | Faction: Dominion

I was willing to give Wildstar a chance because I like to be challenged. I can deal with wiping in a group dungeon or raid if you can learn from your mistakes, play smarter and eventually beat the boss. I've never been a hardcore end game raider due to real life time constraints but I do...

    Guild Wars 2

I fully agree with you about speed running not being any fun but hasn't that become the de facto mode of gameplay for pretty much every MMO now? I remember fondly back during vanilla WoW how much fun and immersive it was spending an hour or more running heroic dungeons like BRD, Scholomance...

Here is the NY Times article I cited. Log In - The New York Times The few ex-38 Studios employees I have heard comment on the bankruptcy have all had positive comments about Curt and that he was a great boss to work for. The only people I have heard refer to him as a moron are atheists...

What do you interpret "open world sandbox" to mean? I interpret it to mean it plays like the TES single player games where you can go anywhere you want to in those games whenever you want to.

Huh? That link about Nehrim said the exact same thing I said about vanilla Oblivion autoscaling to your level. The Nehrim overhaul looks like it did the same exact thing the Oscuros overhaul did and replace autoscaling with preset specific levels for mobs, quests and dungeons. That means you...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Your edit is incorrect as well. All of the PVE content inside of Cyrodil is set to VR5 rank. It does not autoscale to your level. You are correct about the level of loot drops in Cyrodil.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

You are simply incorrect. GW2 does not autoscale you to a higher level in PVE except for the fractal dungeons. GW2 only autoscales up in WvW and SPvP.
  10. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Pay attention. I was clearly talking about autoscaling in PVE content. You can autoscale UP in PVP content like Cyrodil to try and make it a level playing field but not in PVE content. GW2 autoscaled you DOWN if you enter a zone whose PVE content is designed character levels lower than your...

Slow day at work here as well so let's have a go at it. You are making the same argument several others have made. I will make the same exact counterpoint I have always made but so far everyone has evaded responding too. The ONLY reason the single player TES games worked as sandbox games is...

    38 studios Auction Nov 14th and 15th.

How exactly did Curt's company commit fraud? A few years back before 38 Studios moved to Rhode Island I saw a study that ranked each state using several factors to determine which ones were the most economically attractive for companies to operate there. Rhode Island was ranked dead last...

In addition to the Blizzard fanboys and hardcore PVP crazies, it's also tough to discuss MMOs with people who just make shit up because they hate a game they haven't even played. If pointing out they are making shit up makes me a shill then I'm fine with that. You can't have a rational adult...

I'm in Best Buy today at the checkout register and the guy in front of me plops down a stack of $15 GW2 cards. I commented to him "that's a lot of gems". He asked me if I played and I told him I gave it a whirl at launch. Anyways, he said he was tired of relying on RNG for getting his...

SOE Becomes Daybreak / Russian shutdown

When you says "tons of RPGs exist" are you referring to pen and paper game systems or MMOs? Of all the MMOs I have played since EQ1, all of them have used level based systems except for Asherons Call. Level-based vs Skill-based is really all a moot point. All that matters is that whatever...

Here's the deal. If someone throws a punch at me, I am going to punch back. It's as simple as that. Jackdaddio thought he was being cute and knew he would get away with an attack because even the mods are bashing this game. I punched back by pointing out what Firor actually said and ever...

It would be nice if we could actually have a discussion about this game, to include the pros and the cons, but that hasn't really been possible because any attempts to discuss the improvements to the game are drowned out by the haters. Since you brought Archeage up, do you see me shitting up...

LOL don't go Full Utnayan on me bro. Since everyone who already bought the game will be able to play it for free next month, are you going to have a conniption fit if someone comes here and gives a positive review of the improvements made since launch? This of course assumes someone is even...

Hate to burst your bubble but I said a few hundred pages back, perhaps even before the game was released, that the console version would likely be B2P. It only makes sense that all the kinks would get worked out first on the PC version before the console version would be deemed ready for release.
