Not that I necessarily think they should get rid of downvotes (because it's just internet 'karma' anyways), but it's usually only used as an obnoxious "I disagree" button for comments that are on-topic. It really serves no purpose. If you disagree with someone's opinion, you should tell them...

Someone who has played much longer will definitely have more tools in their toolbox, but having 100 more skills available to you doesn't mean you can go around annihilating everything in sight -as they said "You're still just one guy". The gap isn't going to be as wide as say a level 90 versus a...

Well, I think they're really banking on Landmark being ahugehit, and then profiting off people selling blueprints of their own creations. They'll make even more money if they eventually allow people to import the blueprints into EverQuest Next (assuming the popularity carries over), for player...

I think this is really what they're hoping for, in trying to make the players skill or aptitude matter more than have the most +Stats gear. I think there's a lot of valid concern of whether players will accept such a method for determining 'status'. People have enjoyed looking the coolest...

Me too, however the simple fact that the game is going to be F2P with a cosmetic store tells me that how you look is going to be meaningless, in terms of your actual accomplishments. While there may be some iconic gear, people with deep pockets will be able to 'close the gap' with people who...

But seriously, I don't think anyone has argued it's not still 'scripted'. It just more advanced scripting where mobs aren't making merely binary decisions. Remember, there's 40 classes to earn and tier up as well. But if progressing your character ALL there is to do? It will flop if they they...

100% valid concern. I think they're banking on the fact that you'll have hundreds, if not thousands of multiclassing options which will help you to not only distinguish yourself, but really customize yourself to the point that you take ownership of your own created classes. There's a lot of...

This is what worries me the most. They make comments saying "It's a very non-guided experience" where players have to "figure things out on their own", then they later make comments about some magical book that suggests where you go. I really liked most everything they said at SoE Live, I'm...

It's funny how you make up this entire narrative in your head, that has absolutely no basis in reality. Too taxing? Who has ever claimed that? If it's pathetic that people are defending the devs, then it's equally pathetic that you're doing all sorts of mental gymnastics to hate on them...

Project 1999 - Making Norrath Great Again

Okay. Monk at Freeport is a much better option than a Gnome Mage in Steamfont. Free buffs at EC tunnel whenever I need them, awesome. Also fun to drool over all the awesome items people are selling. You just can't twink nowadays like you could in EQ.

Not silly at all. What would be even cooler is if NPC behavior changed depending on the weather as well, via StoryBricks. Although that might be being a little too hopeful. I don't necessarily see how this is the case, with StoryBricks. If it works as advertised, there could potentially be a...

In the original EverQuest. This is EverQuest Next. I'm sorry you can't seem to accept that. You have your own unwavering opinion on how it should be. It's not really 'less immersive' to have one starting city, with the lore as it stands. Edit: And for the record, I agree that it removes...

They've made so many differing comments it's hard to get a grasp on exactly how it's going to be. In some comments, they make it sound like the progression is just getting more tools to deal with more situations, then they've mentioned ranking up skills, etc. For example, in the link from...

Meh. I'm just excited about having a game to be excited about. I'm sorry you guys are so bummed about it, but I'm looking forward to having a potentially good MMO to play. I know this forum has always been a bunch of jaded MMO veterans, but if looking forward to a game makes you a shill...

Do you have a problem dude? When I have ever claimed anything was perfect? God forbid someone have a different opinion. Right now I'm onboard with their 'vision' of no vertical progression, which is why I disagree with Dumar's opinion that you should be a useless fuck from the very beginning...

I have to disagree. I think it's a bit more interesting to get people involved in the changing world right away. Now, being involved and 'in the action' doesn't mean they're helping slay dragons 5 minutes after starting the game. As they've said contributing to Rallying Calls can come in many...

I think they did a lot of interviews at PAX as well as SOE Live, but wouldn't let them release them until SOE Live. They might not have said some stuff at SOE Live because they were giving the 'exclusives' to the various media websites, as well.

Sure it will be. I don't suspect I'll make more than 1 character as there's absolutely no need. You can call it lazy design, but why create multiple starting cities, zones, experiences, etc when their entire game design makes the reuse of 'noob' content obsolete? They're supposedly returning...
  24. Teekey

    EQ Never

Yeah, but you're never going to feel that way in any game, anymore. So I don't think they should try to design around trying to create that feeling, and inevitably failing. I thought the whole point of the no levels thing was that they weren't trying to make a 'leveling game' and 'end game'...

This comment really makes no sense. If the entire world and game is designed around having one starting city, and the positives and negatives that come with that - I don't necessarily see why it's lazy. Should they shoehorn in multiple starting cities just for the sake of having multiple cities...

I sort of like the idea of one starting city if it means the further away you get, the more dangerous it gets. As I said before, there's not much of a 'frontier' feeling if there's a noob starting zone and city in every other zone. I doubt there's going to be anything as unforgiving as an EQ...

At the risk of negs, objectively speaking I actually think the change (from what little we know) is an improvement over the old lore, in some ways. The original EverQuest lore was kind of convoluted, and generic in many ways. In the revision, the gods are a bit more complicated - and the duality...

We don't really know enough about it to love or hate anything, yet. I'm skeptical about a lot, but I'm willing to try it out before I call it a failure, like so many are. Maybe I'm being a bit defensive about it, but the hate circlejerk here gets a bit obnoxious and I don't mind trying to...

EverQuest Next is a long way off. Landmark is right around the corner. The truth is that even if EQ Next sucks by our standards (Gun wielding red panda ninjas), if they get a shit ton of people playing Landmark - they'll easily get a shit ton to play Next as well.
