The RS 175's have an optical in which is why I'd asked. Don't think it'll make a difference in my case. The only flaw I've found for my tastes so far with these headphones is they seem to have a very very sculpted sound, specifically an overload of bass and they're lacking mids to an extent.

Question for people who are smarter than I am: I have anASUS Maximus Hero VIII, and I'm reading that since I'm using the optical out from the motherboard's built in sound that switching to a dedicated sound card wouldn't make any difference in terms of sound quality... is that right or just...

Doubtful. I got the RS 175's. They are a vast improvement over what I had. Re: the antlion mic thing - yeah maybe. Heard some good and bad about it. Gonna do some research first.

I ended up picking a pair ofSennheiser RS 175 Wireless Headphones. They sound lightyears better than the G930's I had (and better than the A50's). Now I just need to find a mic to hook up to it.

I have a G710+ that I got on megasale from BestBuy (thanks SlickDeals). I think it is a pretty good keyboard but Logitech's software... god is it bad. I don't even install it. It is one of the quieter mechanical keyboards though, so you'd have that going for you, which would be nice.

Ok so I tried posting this in the headphones thread, didn't get much of a response. I stepped on my Logitech G930's, and while they work perfectly fine, I was due for an upgrade anyways. I bought a pair of the Astro A50's to replace the 930's. I have this ridiculous buzzing noise coming from...

AirDroid may be your best bet. It goes through the default messaging app. MightyText appears to do the same too but I can't look at that right now.

Ah my bad. I glanced over the limit like an idiot. I never use for more than maybe 10-15 texts a month so I guess I didn't notice. I just foundMightyTextand an alternative would be AirDroid (not as great for what you're asking for though).

I used the Note 5 briefly (and the Note 4 for a long time). It has a fantastic screen, fantastic camera and good battery life. If I could use it on Project Fi, I'd probably be torn over whether to use the 6P or the Note 5.

Get a Logitech K400 and use that as your "remote". Just about the only Logitech product I'll ever recommend to anyone. They work very well for controlling HTPCs. If you're looking for HTPC software check out XBMC or just use Plex.

Looked at those. They seem nice but not wanted I wanted to do. Also the setup I have is overkill, for sure. No question about that. But I didn't want to run a NAS, and I wanted to get the two x 3TB and the 2TB drives off of my main computer because I already have enough (4 TB of blacks) storage...

Yes, for the 4k @ 60 Hz through HDMI 2.0. And it has a lower power draw than the 960. This card is the perfect choice for an HTPC, it fills that niche very well. Bonus: Microcenter accidentally gave me 6TB drives instead of 5TB drives but didn't charge me the difference. Schwing!

Weird about the fans in the Air 540 being squeaky. I've used that case two times and had no issues. I'll have to check out the Cougars on my next build. I've been too lazy and just picked up the AF120's from MicroCenter and they've worked fine for me.

I've done with an HTC M8, Note 4, and my Nexus 6. The 6P was the only one that I ever was worried about bending. The other phones I could sit on in my truck (softer seats) and never blinked. Yeah I'm aware of the 950 Pro's. But afaik only their 512 GB version hits 2500 MB/sec. Both of them are fantastic drives - if I could go back in time I'd probably have chosen the Samsung over the Intel. Oh well.

Finished up my build last night, at least to start stress testing. Still have to redo the wires and stuff. The Fractal R5 is a nice case but I should have just gone with a Corsair 900D or something bigger/roomier than the R5 (probably should have just stuck to my Air 540). The R5 is not made...

Yup. I didn't say all the components were borked. But ruining the mobo/gpu is pretty easy if you unscrew the GPU prior to moving, yank on the power cords connected to it and break (loosely using that term) the PCI male end and tear (also using that loosely) the mobo slot at the same time. So...
