Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

As with most dnd style games, sorcerers are the most powerful. Especially sylvan sorcerers start out with a strong pet that helps out a lot during early levels when casters are weaker. Alchemists are pretty good overall too.

Yeah divine divinity was alright as a more role play alternative to diablo at the time, but with movable objects. Kinda cluttered at times though BG2 was more restricted in terms of areas to visit, but each area was more packed with stuff and allowed for revisiting during quests, while in bg1...

Yeah, Pillars, pathfinder and original sin games also show what stats and character background checks you need for certain dialogue options. Baldurs gate had some very rudimentary stat options, where basically if you had enough charisma you could get extra rewards in some quests.

The easiest to get into... it depends on your previous game history. Once you know the basics of Baldur's Gate, you also know the basics of Icewind dale, Neverwinter nights and Planescape torment, they are all based on basically the same DnD system. Pathfinder is also quite similar to Baldur's...

yeah the whole barony building part of pathfinder really drags down the game for me, the game time deadlines are also an annoyance. plus the first 5-6 levels are terrible, after that the game opens up. the storyline, NPC interactions and dungeon-delving are all really really solid.

Yeah planescape torment is amazing in terms of storyline and writing, but suffers graphically and mechanically. Tides is in a completely different setting (Earth 1 billion years into the future, while Planescape is set in Sigil a city of dimension doors tied into Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance...

yeah D:OS2 is definitely more polished in terms of both storyline and mechanics compared to D:OS1. they are not particularly connected.

agree with the part CRPGs games mentioned above. also add pillars of eternity 2, better mechanics but worse story than PoE 1. the modern shadowrun games are pretty solid too, if you want a bit different setting (cyber punk+fantasy) especially shadowrun: dragonfall. the new wasteland games are...

so many small things the old TV series implemented better from the book. they actually went ahead and made a "baby can you dig your man" jingle and had it repeated several times in the show:

I mean arguably the thing the "heroes" do is show up, rattle Flagg as he's killing them so the people under him start to question him and make him lose his cool. but that's about it.

Flagg's attention was also diverted because the people under him had planned a coup, and he was taking care of that when trashcan came back with the bomb.

so many weird decisions... the whole penthouse scene with Bobby-Terry, the face off between Abagail and Flagg... completely unnecessary and stupid changes. the removal of the whole traveling the desolate america part is one of the most disappointing parts. wasn't trashcan supposed to have a...

yeah king has a habit of starting off strong and then kind of letting things fall apart mid-way, the dark tower series is another example. the shining was pretty solid throughout though, and a few others.

I guess they might revisit harold's storyline. because they also added a bunch of extra fluff about him being bullied and his family, and skipped the whole travelling through wasteland US and meeting Stu and Glenn and others bit.

    The Stand

they haven't even introduced Larry or Nick in the show yet. Only Stu, Fran, Harold and a little bit of Flagg. and yeah they start it with Harold cleaning bodies in the zone, then time skip back to Fran and Harold becoming the only ones left alive in their town and then forward to Fran being...
