Home Alone on SNES was bad, but not unplayable. I did actually get through it back in the day, although I'm not sure if I'd have the patience to do it again. Never played the Genesis version.

Classic Movies to Watch With Your Kids...

Watched it many times and love it! A little more violent than Shao Lin Soccer, with some of the humor being a little more bizarre, so it's less appropriate for kids. I've shown my elementary students Shao Lin Soccer, but I wouldn't show them Kung Fu Hustle.

Classic Movies to Watch With Your Kids...

Great movie, outstanding box art. I can't get enough of that title logo. 2001 probably isn't old enough to be considered "classic", but Shao Lin Soccer is a really, really fun movie for kids and adults.

Agreed. If it gets to Netflix, I'll give it a second chance.

    Pete's Dragon (2016)

I remembered enjoying the original as a kid, but watching this kind of put it in perspective: If the new one is a decent movie, then it's not even so much banking off a recognizable name as it is giving it some dignity.

    Batman: The Killing Joke (2016)

You're probably right. Sucks that "good writing" is considered high-risk, though, especially since bad writing has been costing them profits and fans.

    Batman: The Killing Joke (2016)

Agree completely. Do you think the writing is just better for the animated stuff, or is it possible the stories for the animated stuff wouldn't work as well if they were live action movies? Seems weird that they keep shitting the bed with the live action stuff.

I actually really liked Bomberman 64. I beat it, but it was so long ago I barely remember it.

I've got a stream too. I mostly play retro games (primarily NES and SNES). I don't really follow a schedule, just stream when I feel like it!

I've been using the 8bitdo Gamepad, which is virtually identical to a SNES pad but is Android and Bluetooth compatible (although I've only ever used it connected to my PC via USB). I found mine at EB Games, although I don't think I've seen any there for a while.

Played some Axelay tonight. A very underwhelming performance from me, to be fair, but I did have fun. It's just a gorgeous game throughout. The second level with the city in the background is still stunning. The fourth level in the half-submerged cave is even better, with one of the most...

Twisted Metal: Black was the tits. The creepy and disturbing atmosphere that permeated the game was very well done, with great use of "Paint it Black" as a licensed track.

Craig McGregor just replied on Rerolled. THIS IS GREAT

I remember liking Clash at Demonhead a lot and spending much time playing it in my youth, even though I've never beaten it. I put a couple of hours into it today for old time's sake. This game's got charm in spades. Every speaking character has his own portrait for the cut scenes, often with...

I must admit I've never played this one. I even checked my collection to see if it had been hiding there but it wasn't. It is from Kemco Seika, though, who brought us Shadowgate, Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, and Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular!, so I give it the benefit of the doubt. What type of...

Yes, I have. I remember playing that at my cousin's house in my early teens. I remembered quite enjoying it, so I went back to play it again to see how it held up. Maybe it's because it's Friday night and I'm enjoying some beer, but that was tough! Unlike most of the other games I've been...

I played Poi for a few minutes and it's actually not bad for a Mario 64-esque platformer. It doesn't do anything we haven't seen a hundred times before (at least not yet), but we've got many months to go until Yooka-Laylee so this might scratch that itch for me for a little while at least.

Are they sticking with her lasso forcing people to tell the truth? I'm wondering how they can make that not seem silly. Same thing with the invisible jet, I suppose.

    Suicide Squad (2016)

I was really looking forward to seeing this, so I'm very disappointed it's getting such shit reviews. On the other hand, I actually enjoyed BvS (I know it was stupid and Lex was terrible, but I dug the action), so I suppose there's a decent chance I might enjoy this too. Might see it this weekend.

    The Studio Ghibli Thread

Spirited Away is a great movie. Character development done very right, as far as I'm concerned. My Neighbor Totoro was also excellent, although the theme of children using imagination to cope with uncertainty seemed to clash with scenarios that could only presumably occur if the titular...
