No, not at all, not even close, it feels like something that was started a year ago or two at most. Now some of the time and money went to the single player but even if Star Citizen had only 25% of the resources allocated to it, it still doesn't make sense that the game is in the state it is.

I think the biggest issue is that they aren't trying to make a game, they are trying to make a space simulator and that leads to game design decision that favors simulation accuracy over fun. I still strangely enjoy parts of it, enough that it has kept me playing for the past week.
