Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Because she's a girl and that wrecks immersion in a sci-fi space opera for some people. I honestly think there wasn't near as much woke-ness going on (as Ep 8 which was atrocious), but it's the cool thing to be hyper anti-woke so there you go. I felt the stories explanation was a bit...

Best movie of the decade ?

Mad Max was really good. Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse was artistically one of the coolest things I have seen and was fun to boot. Logan also surprised me in that for a minute you could forget it was a comic book movie.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

While it wasn't the dumpster fire half the board claims it to be, it for sure isn't near the top in the franchise. This movie felt like they crammed too much into it and in the end, even at 150 mins, it felt rushed and flat. Rey's arc is too close to Luke's in the original trilogy and not only...

    Depression

The mellow part of it is weird to me. I have gotten the best rest I have had in years (6ish hrs a night, but feel great). During the day being able to process things as the come at me is weird. I feel like Neo when he learned he was the one.

Dunno what that was, but it wasn't an SR-71...looks like some future-tech fighter they made for the film.

    Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)

Yeah, she's a baby doll. This movie was fun. The Rock, Kevin Hart, and Awkwafina being able to act out their players was actually pretty well done. If you enjoyed the first one you will like this. I have a soft spot for the Rock, I mean he is the People's Champion!, so was bound to check it out.

    Austin, Texas

I've been on Rainey since 2011 and it really comes down to crowds, tourists, and traffic. We are lucky to he on the lakeside of a condo at the end of the street so you at least can drown out the noise. It is convenient if you want to grab a bite, go for a run or bike, or get on the lake...

    Depression

So my visit with the psychiatrist Thursday was interesting. He felt I had done a pretty good job thinking through the problem and definitely checked several markers for ADD (not so much hyperactivity though). He prescribed Adderall XR, 5mg and asked me to vary dosage for a few weeks to see...

    NFL 2019 Season: It's Tricky!

The argument is that defense was blocking for a punt and didn't realize it was a fake. Weak excuse IMO...play was a pass, that was some egregious PI. To not call it for that reason sets the wrong precedent.

    Depression

I've actually had pretty consistent anxiety and depression since leaving college. This culminated to panic attacks and a few trips to the ER per year until I was prescribed Paxil. As mentioned above, Paxil wasn't a great fit. Yes, you didn't feel worried so much and in-turn were less...

    Terrible Jokes Thread

Anne Frank makes it to heaven and drops a bomb of a Holocaust joke. St. Michael is almost speechless at how terrible it is and professes how horrible the joke was and that it in no way was funny. Anne replied, "guess you had to be there."

    College Football 2019 - 2020 Season

Man, 1 second can be miraculous at Auburn! War Damn Eagle! To be fair, we wouldn't have been able to stop Tua with Bama's receivers tonight...especially Waddle. Mac Jones played a good game as well, but isn't quite as accurate. Super fun game! Happy we were on top when time ran out.

    Sonic the Hedgehog (2019)

I've heard the timelines for toy making typically spool up ahead of a movie's release so they can be available at launch. I wonder if they done goofed with the original and there are copies of the derpy Sonic toys out there in a 3rd world country now.

    Doctor Sleep (2019)

I think this was gonna be a touchy movie to direct for megafans regardless. On one hand you have Kubrick's fans and the other King's. Everyone wasn't gonna walk away happy.

    Doctor Sleep (2019)

Just got back from the movie and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The one major negative is it has a long runtime (something like 167 minutes) and felt like it might have been better suited to a mini-series or something. Worth a watch though, 7/10.

There are topics in this series that religious fundamentalist get completely rustled over. They get upset likely because religion has, does, and undoubtebly will be used for ill-effect and people have a hard time reconciling that. As a Christian I consider it entertainment with an honest, if...

    Jojo Rabbit (2019)

I caught this Sunday and agree it was a really good movie. I went in expected more silliness, but it turned out to be a pretty real take on WWII from a little nazi-in-the-making's perspective.

Yeah, as an Auburn grad that is sorry as hell...don't like seeing that. Downward spiral for us (defense spending more and more time on the field, offense unable to execute). LSU is a solid team...wish them well.

    College Football 2019 - 2020 Season

Yeah, we have a freshman QB. He is very hit and miss (literally Jekyl and Hyde during season opener against Oregon). He's made some bad plays and has had some major games to cut his teeth in. I really think how he plays next year will be the barometer I measure Gus by.

The Fermi Paradox -- Where is everybody?

When you say life is more probable with weaker stars I assume you mean red dwarfs and mean this due to their long life (trillions of years vs 10-12 billion of the sun) and being vastly more common than other stars (>70% of all stars). The downside is the habitable zone is super close to them...

The Fermi Paradox -- Where is everybody?

The arguments that a sustained 1g acceleration gets you to near relativistic speeds is valid. What is being ignored is the amount of fuel to do that is astronomically large. Lets assume you can make this craft impossibly small (1000 kg) traveling at 0.5C has almost 14 million Terajoules of...
