Elden Ring - From Software + George RR Martin

I've been enjoying my 'git gud' playthrough that eschews summons, talismans, OP builds etc.

The best spells/ashes are ones that take advantage of the AI. Just a matter of figuring out how. Hoarfrost was great for that, the initial blast would force a reaction from the enemy who would then be open for the culmination that followed.

I did Godskin Peeler with occult or bleeding affinity + Dragon Incantations, which scale with Arcane. Was pretty fun. The running heavy attack on twinblades is a ton of hits that can proc bleed. Once your faith/arcane/mind gets high enough the dragon incantations get high enough to shadow your...

I dunno if the game would be improved from any of that. Even the imbalanced rune rewards are arguably fine because it adds "flavor". I didn't just play through the game four times in a few weeks though. 600 levels in elden ring is uhh, a lot of dying to bullshit.

When I got that quest I thought, "yeah right, I'm not going to go assassinate Blaidd and Turtlepope or whatever dumb shit these guys want me to do." then when I read the targets were all unique to that quest they got riperoni'd

Original WoW's goal was to make a better version of EQ and strip out Soulsbourne-like elements from it. I love ER, loved original WoW and loved original EQ.

a person whose ideal gaming experience is being handed bite-sized bits of "fun" is exactly the kind of person I expect to work at Blizzard.

    Satisfactory

I liked the hard drive and exploration part of the game but it got stale long before I finished unlocking everything. If I replayed I would 100% cheat to get all the hard drives. And probably to get all the slugs. I ended the game with a huge sack of slugs that I never used.

    Satisfactory

Yeah I used Smart!, it's great. It's better for building mega factories on large plates, which isn't what I really liked doing in Satisfactory. If I played again and had the ability to copy-paste factories I'd probably continue my approach of having copy-pasted mini-factories co-located with...

What's next, you going to learn to unicycle? :D Archer build would be fun to explore, but I'd probably get or create a modded talisman that prevents arrow depletion.

I kinda figured GoG sells game at a loss or something. It's like, why does a store like that exist. Maybe CD Projekt didn't like Steam taking a cut from their sales so they're just like, "Let's just make our own store that doesn't make any $$$ because fuck these guys."...

I don't see the allure of NG+ in ER. Maybe it's because I methodically went through all the areas but I really wanted a fresh experience. I don't even know if NG+ gets hard until like, 5 levels in or something.

I put ER down until DLC, played a few hours of EQ then immediately started a new character in ER. The mods on PC really improve the game if you aren't looking for online play.

Move to Unreal is interesting. They must have so much $$$ invested in REDengine. Glad to see it though, it's crazy how an indie dev studio can get better graphics in 2022 than a 100+ million dollar game. If CDProjekt works with Epic to improve the engine, all the better for people like me.

I haven't upgraded it yet. Not sure if I like power stancing for the reasons Hatorade said. Will play with it more.

    Satisfactory

Biggest thing I'd want before doing another playthrough of Satisfactory is a blueprint system to copy-paste factories. https://ficsit.app/mod/6vQ6ckVYFiidDh exists and I enjoyed it, but doesn't connect the belts / tubes, making it pretty tiresome to scale up production.

I love the truck mechanic in the game. Especially Explorer . Plotting the paths in them is a fun break from the typical gameplay loops and watching them all race around is more satisfying for me than seeing belts spreading around. I never used trains / drones.

In that you can stagger some bosses easily and others you can't? I had the same experience. I'm really enjoying Bloodhound's Fang's Finesse AoW. It's not only strong and increases effective range / openings but feels like more of a melee-centric ability than other range-increasing ashes I've...

The ash system is perfect for ER. I'll go even further to say that if they had included it in previous Dark Souls games it would have improved them. My only comment is that the game should include a "hard mode" that removes them from the game and some other stuff. But at the very least it's an...

So frustrating having started a new playthrough and seeing people talk about bosses in one of the three sections of the map (lake of rot, haligree tree, the snow plains or whatever) I didn't explore. Looking forward to getting to this boss with my "melee only, no summons, no talismans"...

I'm looking for an AoW to put in my off-hand curved greatsword. Looking at this list: Elden Ring Ashes of War Tier List - Updated March 2022 any thoughts? @Hatorade did you powerstance curved greatswords when you used the bloodhound's fang?

best thing to find endgame builds is to search for the weapon / weapontypes you want + a tough boss in that area. Ex: I'm not a huge fan of colossal weapon builds in ER. Too much reliance on jump attacks and buffs. Ruins the flow of combat for me. also there's a Dragonslayer mod...

Enjoying my new char This game works great for repeat play because it's so pure and open. There's not a bunch of obligatory dialog, quests, zones etc. If i wanted to skip content i could do it without any difficulty. The fast rune farming also makes it even more open because it i wanted to be...

Elden Ring - From Software + George RR Martin

I think this will be a common complaint with this game. If you like to explore the zones or look up ideal builds you'll be OP for the first 75% of the game. Then when you get to the last 25% it's balanced around you hitting the attribute softcaps and the game feels like you just emerged from the...
