I had a friend who played Rift for a LONG time, raiding guild and all. He only recently quit and is playing FFXIV now. As far as I know, his guild was still goin and some of his friends still play there, though mostly seem to be slowly leaving.

Add an extremely rare pet/mount/cosmetic item to the Ifirit fight. BAM, problem solved. The rest of aren't nearly as big of an issue, at least they drop gear. Make them worth more EXP to make it worth running them multiple times, and again as people level up other classes.
