I'm in the middle of watching quali 5. The TT+ coverage is better this year. They've had a few technical glitches, and the first day some audio problems, but it is great just to watch the bikes.
Last year I complained because they were constantly cutting away to interview the crew chief's...
Yea Empyrion has been around a very long time. I can't remember the date it went early access but I've been playing many years. For them, almost as soon as the first early access was out, the project barely moved. The build system they started with has changed little, and it is the most...
Could be that for sure. Most development I've worked on, the greatest speed was towards the end of the project, but I've never done one of these early access / support for years things.
I was thinking about engines this morning. Both Unreal and Unity are great at that initial get-something-running stage. Both have serious problems once maps and assets start getting larger.
My top 3 fave games are unity unity unreal in Empyrion, Eco, Conan. All 3 sprang to life out of the...
It was a good time. At the end of every night whoever was running the server would save and then a big pvp brawl would break out. The BG era kensei / mage dual class would usually be the last one standing, but in nwn times it was usually the all strength halforc with a 2hander. I was always...
I multid alot of NWN in ye olden tymes. This was before DLC was a big thing but they started doing premium modules at some point, and they did a few expansions.
The tools were so good people were making great modules for free as well, but pirates of the sword coast was the best of the lot...
I had fun this weekend. Did a solid 8 hours last night after the owl stuff was over. I couldn't remember a damn thing though from final. I'd remember having something on an alt in the bank and I'd switch and it wasn't there. Was remembering beta.
Also has that chat problem "need more for...
Give it a try! It is really fun.
Eventually if you are a packrat like me though, you'll be crushed under the weight of carrying 1000 quest items. I found I was gaming an hour and then spending 3 hours in inventory goblinry.
I've been digging into alot of that stuff as research for future games. Fascinating how gods evolved and shuffled around and switched spheres of influence.
Yahweh sort of started as a thorlike then became some kind of dragon god, then was replaced by El, which sort of halfass merged with Baal...
I was thinking I was high teens in level but I was only 8. I was remembering my beta characters.
Game is slow paced but definitely not slow enough to play while watching the above stuff.
Pixels are a big part of how everything works because of convolution. GPU number crunching has historically always been about texture mapping. Everything works in small square chunks to cache well etc.
Even when I was fiddling with audio AI a few years back, audio was converted into mel...
8 hours till this starts! I'm going to do this, but I'm going to be a crappy groupmate as there's so much stuff to watch right now (isle of man tt, f1, motoGP, owl).
I'm doing a fast (3 - 5 days) so I need a good game to distract me.
I love this channel
https://www.youtube.com/@CainOnGames
Full of old war stories about Fallout etc.
I think someone in Rajah's crpg thread pasted one and I've been watching them all.
These turned out really nice. They have a strange tint to them, almost like they are from a 1950's magazine. I have no idea how all this happened as the prompt is similar to my usual elf maidens.
BTW this seems to have changed to cause the snap refresh to happen as soon as you close whatever the popup is about. Should have been like that from the start!
Not really music, but I think this channel uses an AI voice and it is pretty good

It sounds better than those celebrity voice AIs that were running around on twitch awhile back.
The book house of suns is like that. There's a high speed chase and they get so close to light that every second of shiptime is days of planet time. I think the chase took 20 thousand years.
Interesting software bug. A routine was watching the rate of change of altitude to try to catch a radar sensor going faulty and it triggered when they flew over a cliff.
Hmm I downloaded a running vid from youtube and cut it down to 480, wanna try it?
It seems to want to mediafy the link, lemme try a link link: Running Lady
Finally got around to trying that blender mocap thing. Just immediately segfaults blender. Logs are empty, no python traceback, nothing. Spent an hour trying various stuff people mentioned in the github issues but no luck.
They put the full 2008 race up on youtube. Timestamped a funny moment:
The pit stops make you panic till you realize that 8-10 seconds was normal back then :emoji_laughing:
This is a great match with probably the craziest push map yet. The top contenders team on a 31 game winstreak vs the league top seed in the eastern region. Hopefully the timestamp works:
O2 is Sanfran's academy team, Infernal is the rebranded Philly.
