They're mostly used for gathering and whatnot, but some of them can play the game for you from soup to nuts, yes.

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

Not sure why anyone is giving you shit. You show up to every raid, most of which you're leading as well as MTing, you own up to your mistakes, and you're prepared for fights. We're not a hardcore guild. I feel that that's about as much as you can ask of anyone in this situation.

Ouch. Well, either way, it sucks. Guess I need to find something to replace mine.

Yeah, they aren't selling any more, at all. I think it was part of the deal with Fitbit.

Ugh. Pebble sells out to Fitbit. Good thing I didn't invest in a newer one. Pebble - Pebble’s Next Step Especially pissed off about this bullet item: Pebble functionality or service quality may be reduced in the future.

Completely agreed on both counts. They need to keep him out of it at this point. She can stand on her own just fine.

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

Haven't had time to PTR much yet, but sounds like I'd better get 'er done. I know that I really dislike the Demon's Blades sit-on-your-GCD play style, having tried to adapt to it a few times on my DH. To each their own. Gotta say, though, that I enjoy no-brainers when I'm playing WoW. I have...

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

If that's all the change meant for us I'd have no issue with it. Taking Devastate off the talent bar for Devastator instead makes us less Warrior and more Havoc DH with Demon's Blades, and just no. Fuck that. Strangest way to play ever.

Well, they also said, for a while, that nothing was amiss with the system that was rewarding many players 3-4 drops in quick succession and others no drops. So, grain of salt here.

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

It's a hell of a drug. And yeah, I'm not a hardcore player by any means, but my Sephuz sucks. I won't grab anyone by the throat and give them 14 days to fix this shit, though. So my dps doesn't top the meters. Who cares?
  14. Alkorin

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

Only the hardcore players will feel legit put off by this. They don't care about that segment of the population as long as Mom and Dad/casual WoW players (who represent the majority, and don't really care about "feeling sub-par") are happy with their Sephuz and Prydaz. If the bad luck system is...

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

With the same gear? In the same circumstances? Everything has changed in the game since then. Abilities are different. Gear is -super ridiculously- powerful by comparison, even heirlooms. If you don't have them, that's nice. Others do. Pretty much everyone uses them to level now. It's simply...

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

Okay, but most of that is the mudflation that comes from being able to outgear anything with ease (heirlooms) or get massively inflated xp for doing trivial things (again, heirlooms). It's not specifically "easier"; the carrot on a stick is bigger, and the stick is closer to your face. It's...

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

I still remember randomly falling through the world and dying in beta (over and over and over). That, and walking into some zone that wasn't open yet and getting murdered by invisible guardians in one or two hits. Compared to the lagfest that was launch, though, all of that was a treat.

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

I'm ashamed to admit this, but I actually died fighting Saurfang on the Arms hidden artifact quest. I had to kill him as Fury for it to be completely trivial. So, yeah, you can still die as a solo player on a quest. You just have to suck.
  19. Alkorin

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

Sure, but would you describe it as difficult? More procedural, maybe, but still the same old same old. Having to be slightly more careful in your surroundings doesn't make the mindless quest hubbing much less trivial.
  20. Alkorin

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

Oh, come on. It's always been "hand me those bear asses over there" or "fetch me 5 goblin sacks" or "bring this letter to my long-lost cousin". The difficulty may have gone down -slightly-, but it was never something I'd call hard.
  21. Alkorin

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

I'm not sure what you think you played, but WoW has always been this trivial. There is endgame content that isn't trivial (until it is surpassed by other content, and becomes trivial). The rest is mice nuts, and it always has been.

    Computer Issues

Yeah, I left that out because it's been repeated ad nauseum here already. Honestly, I would do a fresh install regardless, even from HDD to HDD. I hate cloning Windows installs unless there is no other choice. So much garbage collects on Windows systems over time, it's nuts.

    Computer Issues

Go into the BIOS, check that the value for the boot order to hard disk is set correctly. Especially if it's UEFI, because that is a common issue.

    Routers & Other Networking Stuff

Auto is fine most of the time. If you're seeing drops, though, that's when you might need to fine-tune. i.e. above example of mine. Client bridging cuts your effective bandwidth in half so it's usually a last resort thing.

    Routers & Other Networking Stuff

Before you change anything else, give that a try and see if it improves anything. Normally, you'd want to use some app to check the saturation in your area and pick a channel based on that. 11 happened to work best for me. Just in case your router doesn't tell you this, you want to pick 1, 6 or...

    Routers & Other Networking Stuff

You can try changing the 2.4GHz channel and see if that works. Not all devices impede the entire spectrum. Our microwave at our old place didn't seem to interfere with channel 11 on 2.4GHz, so I switched to that and everything was fine. Again, YMMV.
  27. Alkorin

    Routers & Other Networking Stuff

2.4GHz is inherently shitty, yes, but it's rare that you can't get around its cons with appropriate repeaters/antennae/secondary devices. The inherent shittiness is the reason that 5GHz happened, but that also effectively cuts your max range in half, so there are issues with that, too. A purely...
  28. Alkorin

    Routers & Other Networking Stuff

Also, microwave ovens interrupt the 2.4GHz spectrum. You wouldn't figure that would matter, but you'd be surprised.

    Routers & Other Networking Stuff

Brain fart, sorry. The wireless client gateway will be the same as the wired one if they both share the same LAN. Next time you plug in to the netgear, find its IP and write it down, you should be able to use that to get to it from anywhere on your network.
  30. Alkorin

    Routers & Other Networking Stuff

The netgear would be your gateway on any wireless client. Look for that address and http/https to it. If you're routing both wired and wireless through the netgear, I wouldn't. I would use the dlink as a wired gateway in that setup.
  31. Alkorin

    Routers & Other Networking Stuff

Well, if it's just wifi, you've eliminated the dlink, since you're not using it for wireless. Are you running dd-wrt or similar on either box? You might want to schedule a timed reboot if so. They're known to leak memory here and there, more or less depending on the build you're running. Also...

You can only do the "go go go, balls to the wall" thing for so long before peoples' frustrations with each other reach a boiling point. If you're gonna get all hardcore on encounters like Helya, where you're damned if you do and damned if you don't, it won't be long before people are quitting.

They're playing at a different level than most of us (well, okay, all of us) play at. I'm not saying "don't watch people play games", I'm saying "why watch some random nobody play games". If you're gonna watch something, why not check out competitive leagues or something where you're watching...
