Way faster, less bloat and no ads. I haven't used curse in awhile, but it used to consume a shit ton of resources for what it did.

If anyone needs a project, write a wow addon updater that doesn't suck. I had a working prototype done in Python (using Beautiful Soup Lib) and SQLite that would search curseforge and wowace and compare the newest version of the searched addon in the repo to the version I had stored in the...

Quality helps. If I get some good fuckery it makes me want to do it more. If it's weak then I'd rather do something else.

Passed dat security+. It's pretty challenging. Not in a technical way, but in a "matching up poorly asked questions to shitty answers," way.

Yeah I'd prefer to do another for sure, but I have to satisfy 8570 within 6 months and since security+ is the one they have a class and reimburse for its just the easiest. Theyll pay for MCSA too but that's at my leisure so not worried about that one. I'm going to get it though since it will...

The other issue though is that even if the contract allows any certification for 8570, the company probably would not reimburse me for CISSP where as they definitely will for Sec+ (1 try anyway).

I work for usasoc. My boss told me it had to be security+ but maybe that's just what the company prefers.

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

I'm in a security+ boot camp style class on ft Bragg. It's geared towards soldiers so it's basically telling me what to memorize. I'm a contractor and Security+ is a requirement of the contract I'm working on so I can't sub CISSP.i have to get it within six months or I'll get fired. I also...

It's required for admin access in any/all dod agencies. It's some bullshit for sure. All of the compTIA certs require continuous education now too or they expire in 3 years.

@Noodleface are you required to get security+? I'm in a class for it this week and they made it a lot harder than it was when I got it in 2009. Hopefully I pasd on Friday. Company only pays for the first attempt.

    What do you do?

I gave 4 weeks notice, but I knew I had that type of relationship with my last employer. They offered to let me take leave too so I could keep my benefits active longer but I declined and just took the payout.

    Weather

The power pole at the end of the neighborhood I'm staying in has been snapped in half laying over the road since the storm. I saw a truck over there this morning though so maybe by the time I get off work power will be back. No phone nets as of last night, but could make calls and texts.

    Weather

No power, water, phone where I'm at in NC. 4G just started working about a half hour ago. A part of the fence fell over, shed roof blew away and some vinyl siding blew off, but nothing too major. Fence is probably the most time consuming fix since a post broke and will have dug up and replaced.

    What do you do?

I have the HSA plus the cheapest, highest deductible plan. All of my calculations show it to be the best value since all of the money I would pay in premiums are better placed in the HSA. I'd basically have to get some serious shit to hit my deductible, but even then, the out of pocket max isn't...

Almost done with my first week on Bragg. Its been pretty awesome. The health benefits being total shit is my only complaint, but I don't think any contractors get good health coverage.

In one my first real "system admin" jobs I inherited an AS400 because the guy who was in charge of it died and no one knew (or wanted to learn) how to run it. About 6 months after I inherited it, it completely broke and in good ol' IBM fashion, you can't just buy a new AS400 and expect to...

Marriage and the Power of Divorce

I knew plenty of kids who devolved into a diet of nuggets and M&Ms as adults because they were tortured with liver and onions or go hungry all the time at home. So it works both ways. My son tries quite a bit of stuff and while I still consider him picky, I rarely have trouble going somewhere...

I'm just more concerned about nutrition and getting him to like relatively decent foods. I definitely don't let him eat just anything, but I present a list of good options and let him pick. I also knew a bunch of kids who endured years of eating food they hated because their parents made them...

Marriage and the Power of Divorce

I never really understood the whole "eat what I make or nothing," thing. It's one thing to give your kid cereal or cake for dinner because you're lazy but I can cook a steak and a piece of chicken at the same time. So if I want steak and my kid wants chicken, why the fuck not?

Marriage and the Power of Divorce

I've been in engaging in a giant social experiment for the last 5 years where no member of my family actually eats the same thing for dinner. Everyone chooses what they want (my son doesn't get complete freedom of choice, but gets options) I cook it, then we sit down together and eat it...

I always talked as technically as I possibly could to my wife to see how long she would keep asking what I did. She stopped asking what I did after about 3 days and has just asked how my day was ever since. I tried to get really over the top like this guy:

Most of the porn I had when I hit puberty was analogue porn so I grew a fondness for the bush. By the time I was old enough to get laid I was disappointed that all the girls were shaving them off. As long as it's not sprawling all into the thighs and up into a happy trail it doesn't really...

Online Poker - playing from the U.S.

I vastly prefer multi table tournaments. Some of the best times I've had are coming back from being a handful of blinds away from busting out and turning it around to being one of the chip leaders a few tables later. Realistically, you have to start shipping pretty loosely when you get that...

I think sealswithclubs is still around. It used to be the shit until they got raided, but at one point they'd have 500ish people online with multiple cash games going. I made several thousand from that site (mostly due to BTC sky rocketing and not so much my superstar poker skills). Tournament...

Yeah if anything I'm an "under-taster." There is no food that makes me ejaculate upon eating it and also none that really makes me vomit eating it either (that being said, I've never tried or plan to try, any really outrageous Andrew Zimmern shit).

There's not a lot of food or vaginas that I don't like. Eggs are the one thing I never developed a taste for and in all honesty I want to like them, I just can't. They taste like the essence of fart to me and I just can't do it unless they are minced up inside of some fried rice or pad thai or...

    Home buying thread

My family lives in Hoke county (outside of Raeford). A lot of my soon to be coworkers and other folks I've talked to seem to think it's not a good place to live based on schools and what not, but I've spent a good deal of time there (and will likely live there for a month or two before finding...

I was actually asked decent technical questions that pertained (I think) to the job I will be doing. They were generally open ended with multiple right answers, which if I were in the position to hire a systems engineer I'd ask in a similar way. I actually interviewed for a regular old systems...
