It's possible, if you're diligent and save. When my wife and I were in our late 30's I also didn't have much in my 401k. (less than what you have, we had some things happen which made me take a payout which was stupid and heavily taxes/penalized). You'll have to buckle down into a recovery...

I think a question I keep coming to in my head regarding the AI Bubble (which I definitely believe is a bubble). Is when it pops will it be just the traditional "Now these things price correct back to where they should be, and the hype train heads to another station", or will it only pop after...

I'm certainly not saying they shouldn't. Being a US company benefits them in many ways, and unlike some countries we won't arbitrarily nationalize them. I just find it one more step towards the "corporatocracy" dystopia model. At some point a large multinational will be big enough that it...

Compared to @Mrs. Haus and I who own two cars grand total, both wholly paid off. One 2013, and one 2017. heh My idea of a extravagant expensive side project vehicle would be buying an older El Camino to restore/restomod.

Yeah, some of it, I think, has to do with letting lifestyle inflation creep in on you. You start making more money and there are things you associate with "well off" and you start doing those, and those cost more than the frugal means you'd been living with. Like when the guy who usually...

Elderly Parents and Looking Out for Them

My one surviving parent is living in the house I was raised in around 20 minutes from me. But this is already a consideration in some ways. My sister moved back to Texas to move in with her and take care of things at the house (I take care of maintaining the finances, money, mom is currently...

Well. Covid proved to a lot of employers that they could, in fact, have many of their jobs get done "from anywhere". Which now also means "done cheaper in Costa Rica or India". Then you add in that all the big companies for the last year and a half have been pushing people into training AI...

His take on it (my cardiologist) was essentially... "This would be a great heart rate if you were a regular runner and in great shape.... we both know how much you weigh..." So it was something to watch. Never had Afib, although oddly my watch also checks for signs of that too. Only time...

I have to watch things because my cardiologist is all kinds of cautious on me because my resting heart rate is around 52-55, and it dips to the low 40's when I sleep. It's why I wear a "smart watch". Been told if I ever see a number starting with a 3 we have to have a pacemaker talk.

Key note if taking a magnesium supplement, if you have a low resting heart rate be careful! They are a low tier beta blocker, which can cause your heart rate to drop.

I have to agree with @ToeMissile on this one. If your line of work is anything like mine the first stop when job shopping is your personal network and calling people to see who in your industry is hiring. This also usually helps you get the right in with the right people. Now a days any...
