By the time I first heard of this game (late 96), UO was right around the corner and I thought this looked like ass so I never played it. But by today's standards, The Realm seems like a long lost masterpiece.

EQ and UO's pvp worked tolerably well in spite of (and more likely because of) the minimal design effort initially put into them. Any time I hear that a dev is paying special attention to the subject of pvp, I know the end result will be dogshit.
