The key issue I had with this game was the rapidly declining difficulty curve. Impossible is murder in the first few missions, but if you manage to beeline to a light plasma rifle the high damage and +10 aim makes the game a walk in the park because you will always hit and always kill...

Estus flask increases are diminishing the higher you go, and it caps a +7. Killing Quelaag's sister prevents you from joining the covenant, one of the better covenants in the game, but once you go NG+ it doesn't matter anyways.

it was just a partial fix. Roamers still warp through floors. Skeletal monks popping into MR is a bit too much for an ~18ish group. It is still almost impossible to pull bar without training knight, or to even pull the roamer on the staircase. Unrest is basically just good for a mid 20s group...

That's not really correct. Kill Lost Sinner, loot Fragrant Branch of Yore, use that to free the pyromancer, go through shaded woods to the shaded ruins section, kill the boss there and you're already in Doors of Pharakos. That is really just 4 zones, Heide's tower of flame, No man's wharf...
