In-geom is fun because it makes a lot of spells insta-cast/insta repeat, black hole and most of the wizard spells, spirit walk / immunity bubble on monks etc. That said, playing an aether walker wizard with ancient weapons and gear was fun as hell

I think some skills alone broke that game, monks & earth slash was pretty much GG. I think any game where you can attack yourself, heal yourself, and buff yourself to get experience points mid combat is doomed to struggle on that front.

#2 was better than #1, having multiple classes and options for each. Still inferior to Diablo, but some fun aspects in it (TD minigame) and the ghost who regularly gives you lip.
