Yet another lie. LUAs/Addons have been working fine for at least the past 6 weeks and have not been disabled during that entire time.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

LOL you did it again. How many lies/untruths can you fit into one post? 1. The watermarks were removed in the build that the weekend beta testers just played. 2. Several addons exist and if you had closed beta access, you would be able to get them. 3. Those addons work just fine and...

Sure thing. I sent Tuco a PM to find out what faction he is on.

Oops you gave yourself away again.

Like I said, you can download it easily yourself if you really had closed beta access. I think you've already proven yourself wrong but send me a tell/mail in game and I will admit I was wrong if I hear from you.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

LOL why does everyone who likes a game you dislike an employee of the company making the game? Feel free to send me a tell or mail in game @rescorla.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

This is why I think you're lying about being in the closed beta. Anyone in the closed beta has access to all the player made addons which gives you the measuring tools you say don't exist.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

The number of posters here who constantly compare every new MMO to EQ1 and complain about the new MMO would seem to indicate otherwise.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Coming from the king of one sided opinionated slants that is pretty funny. I have no agenda whatsoever. Doesn't matter to me what game you or anyone else here plays. Since you aren't in the closed beta, I happen to be in a position to know when you are spewing out your opinion and trying to...

Do you have any background in software engineering? I'm software QA myself. Most of the time you don't know things are broke until you test them because developers typically suck at unit testing their own code. What do you think was the primary purpose of the weekend beta test that gave out...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

What is your criteria to determine when a game goes live whether it is "finished"? ESO has already said stuff like the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood quests won't be implemented until after the game is released. Other than that, what content do you believe will be missing when the game...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Wikipedia says WoW was released on November 23, 2004. That sounds correct since I remember playing in open beta for a couple of weeks. Any idea when the NDA was lifted?

    The Elder Scrolls Online

I've experienced several Tortage quality zones so far myself. Can't provide any more specific details. Anyone remember when the WoW open beta started and the NDA was lifted? I was in the open beta for a few weeks before the game was launched but its been so long I don't remember.

This is exactly the kind of reply I would expect from someone who enjoyed cockblocking other guilds in EQ1 and all the drama and server politics that arose from it. Don't take that as a personal insult. I refuse to believe even the most hardcore EQ1 fanboi actually enjoyed the mindnumbingly...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

I wonder how many of those who constantly pine for the good ole days of EQ1 and trash all the WoW clones in reality just want a new MMO that allows raiding guilds to compete against one another for raid bosses and allows them to cockblock other guilds from ever doing raids?

That was a response to someone asking what I do to make the solo questing more fun and challenging.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Anything where there is a decent chance of me dying if I screw up. Doing quests that are a couple levels higher than my current level. Aggroing 3+ mobs at a time versus taking the easy route of only attacking 1-2 at a time.
  18. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

I'm not concerned with finding the most efficient method of getting to the level cap as quickly as I can. I just want the journey to level cap to be entertaining and challenging.
  19. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

If there are much better game designs than linear solo questing, can't you come up with more than the one GW2 example that only worked when there were enough people in zone? The Skyrim/Oblivion model you suggested only works in a single player game where the mob difficulty autoscales to...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

It sounds like some of you guys don't really know what you want. Is it safe to assume that no one here wants to go back to the EQ1 design where the group sits on their butt on one camp spot for an extended period of time while the puller goes out and fetches mobs? If that assumption is...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

For me personally, group dungeons and raids are what I enjoy doing the most in MMOs. As someone with a wife, kids, and a full time job, the amount of time I have available to spend playing MMOs is limited. When I don't have enough time to run group dungeons or raids, the solo quest grind gives...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

General rule of thumb is that all class abilities use magicka while all weapon skills (minus staves) use stamina. It gives you two resource pools to draw from.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Using whatever criteria you want to use to determine what constitutes "successful", what MMOs since EQ1 that forced grouping have been successful?
  24. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

You also have to factor in the growth of voice chat apps like Ventrilo, Mumble etc. Regardless of which MMO I am playing, I almost always do group content with guildmates who are in the guild's voice chat channel so we discuss everything there versus typing it out.
  25. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Forcing players to group in order to advance thru the PVE content would obviously increase player socialization, but is that how the large majority of paying customers want their MMOs to be designed? A LOT of EQ1 players flocked to WoW because they were fed up with forced grouping, myself being...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

What other grouping mechanisms do you expect to see in a MMO besides group dungeons (basic and elite level), raids and PVP?
  27. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Aside from WoW, which MMOs are you counting as successful?
  28. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

So what do you actually want in a MMO? As far as I can tell there are no in betweens when it comes to MMOs. You either go the McQuaid/EQ1 route and force everyone to group for everything or you go the WoW/WoW-clone route of supporting both solo questing as well as tougher content that...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

For any MMO with a built-in quest helper, I'd much prefer just marking the map with a circle to show general vicinity for the player to go search in versus putting an exact "x" marks the spot pinpoint on the map. I was playing WoW when the first player-made quest helper addon was made. Players...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Based on the number of posters in this thread who had major problems like login queues, disconnects, zone loading times, etc with the weekend beta test, it sounds to me like there are still some kinks to work out with their single megaserver architecture.
  31. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

That is just what some people said in guildchat. May also have something to do with mass PVP when there are a lot of players in one general vicinity. I know in a lot of MMOs I played we turned nameplates off in raids to improve framerate. FYI Zenimax has their own version of The Vision just...
  32. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

I think that is a concession to the PVP community. Apparently having nameplates over your character can help give away your position.

If you're referring to me, I was a lurker on the old FoH board back when it was the noows site. When that site went down, I didn't know you guys had moved to here until a couple months ago. ESO is the only MMO I am playing at the moment so that is why I only post in this thread. BTW it...

My understanding is that if you don't preorder, you are limited to the three races for each faction. I believe post-release you can upgrade to the Imperial edition and unlock all races for each faction.
  35. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Preorders can play any race in any faction.
  36. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Which is still under NDA. My guess is that the weekend beta test you guys are doing is nothing but a stress/load test and based on all the problems a lot of you had with loading times, disconnects etc that will be the main focus of the devs over the next two months.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

I assume the skull and crossbones are on a respawn timer. Sounds like the dark anchor you did was bugged since you didn't get the boss.
  38. R

    The Elder Scrolls Online

FYI each zone has a public dungeon, a group dungeon, multiple dark anchors, and multiple open world bosses (skull and crossbone on map) each requiring 2-4 people in order to complete. The personal quests are all designed to be soloable. It seems to me that is the basic MMO design model since WoW.

The game gives you warnings when to block, interrupt and dodge. When mobs cast AOEs is when the dodge warning occurs. In the Settings you can configure those warnings to occur Never, Sometimes and Always.
