Suggestions for a new author / series of books for me to read?

Try Nelson Demille. General's Daughter and the such have been made into films. Some of them are a bit similar to Crichton. They're generally suspense/mystery.

    The NSA watches you poop.

Yea, I've followed Kim Dotcom's story for a while. I'm not happy about the influence banks and media corporations have exerted over our govt. or that our govt. rolls over for them. We need a separation of corporation and state. Of course the legality of the actions of Sunda and Dotcom are...

I'm not shocked at all. Most people in this thread know very little about it. I still don't understand all of the regulatory changes and I've read them several times though I suspect there is nothing novel about that amongst legislation.

Book of the Month - Merged

Toss up between space and MRSA for me. Tyson is appealing, but I think Space travel/exploitation is going to go private in a big way soon. I'm more curious about MRSA since I've read a few stories about it becoming more widespread. I just hope it doesn't focus too much on token fucked over...

    Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

There should be negligible contact between the romans and the germans at this point as the germans hadn't migrated to the roman borders yet. And Assyrians, Numidians, Gauls, and Thracians wouldn't remotely speak germanic.

I've recently discovered I read and type like 4x faster than a guy at work. I haven't brought up subtitles, and he may be an extreme case, but maybe they can't read through it quickly enough and it brings them out of the scene substantially. I can't watch a lot of anime generally because the...

The majority of the polling data shows that on individual issues the country is far more left wing than our elections show out. I suspect team politics, essentially a religion, are the most significant barrier to the political reality of political opinion in the states.

    Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Yea, stealth isn't highly rewarded in AC4. You fuck people up. I don't really care for that, but it's consistent with the character. I think Ezio was overhyped, but I prefer being ultra-stealthy and ghost-like. Deus Ex still sits atop the heap for me in stealth risk/reward.

That is a sick turn of events. Did you use the awful potato face DLC when you did it? I'm obsessed with restoring the roman empire or fashioning the latin one. Sometimes I steal the HRE and punish the germans, but usually the roman/latin empire. I also usually embrace...

It's hard to say. Minimally you will have about as many campaign naval events in AC4 as you had side-mission naval events in AC3, but some of the crafting and most of the first time traveling (fast travel unlocks) is naval. A lot of the economy is also based around naval encounters, but if...

    EVE Online

It is weird, but having PvE only ships was also weird. EW immunity sounds interesting, but they're so damn expensive. It seems like as soon as you break the logistics wing of the opposition you'd want to bring down the marauders just for ISK efficiency.

No, parcels, magazines, advertisements, and bills are still a very big deal. Personal letters and P.O. boxes are much much weaker now, but they haven't been a significant part of their revenue for a while and the reduction in P.O. boxes allowed them to downsize their storefront footprint...

What is your opinion on GMO plants and products?

Mos def a lot of hyperbolic over-reaction from the hippie wing of the left, which I understand is a powerful part of german culture (conservatism of nature). It's unfortunate. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

I have enjoyed the game, but I like AC3 more. AC4 feels like they tried to do a few too many things without putting much effort into each one. Hunting and Harpooning are just such tiny experiences, the assassin contracts feel uninspired, the boarding actions are tedious and silly, the base...
