What is the point for companies to invest in local fighters anymore if their big advertising audience is now relegated to fights on AXS.tv (bellator, legacy, etc.)?
Not for those that are trying to make their way through the smaller promotions before getting to the big show. Sponsorship is their life blood, along with being coaches out of whatever gym that train out of.
I'm sure sponsorship banners, walk out t-shirts and apparel will still be means for fighters to make some extra cash. If they ban those, then I can really see the fighters unionizing in the not to distant future.
It is a very curious move by the Cards. Obviously this addressing the void left behind with Oscar Tavaeras' death, but usually they build their team from within and rarely move cheap players for other team's talent.
