Funny, I had the reverse experience with Far Cry 3 vanilla, about 30 mins before quitting from boredom. But, I played Blood Dragon to 100%. Like Kreugen said, Tomb Raider is also pretty damn good third person shooter.

The standard recommendation is to read a Plot Synopsis of Witcher 1 (if you care). And just play Witcher 2. It is a better game in every conceviable way. If you want Witcher 2 to look even better get the High Res Textures mod from Nexus mods. You don't need to know the Witcher 1 story...
