    Art Bell returns to radio!

Is that the same dude that did all the radio bits in Prey? Never actually listened to him other than in that game. But those bits were pretty entertaining.

How do you track your investments?

I use Quicken for my all of my personal finance stuff. It's pretty good on budgeting, expenses and the like, but the investment performance reports leave something to be desired. No way to compare to benchmarks and the like, as far as I can tell. It does do a decent job of giving me a lifetime...

Yeah, TSW Crofts. I'm pretty sure in hindsight now that they probably did come with the hubcentric rings, but at some point one of the tire shops swapping the summers/winters misplaced them or something. Regardless, it's all good now. I was just surprised that the couple tire shops I asked to...

Fair enough, I just thought it was a funny mistake to make when defending your honor. I would also dispute though, that your Honda would be "hanging" with Mustangs (or that hanging with a V6 Mustang was anything to be too proud of). The difference between 12 and 14 lbs per HP is pretty...

Because they're a bank. It's just what they do. We hadn't touched our line of credit in years and all of the sudden a couple years ago the bank started asking for a bunch more paperwork and documentation to maintain it. The banker that serves us was apologetic about it, but some faceless...

lol, I'm not trying to give you shit here Brad, but you don't seem to understand power to weight ratio either. You have shit backwards. Although actually on further inspection maybe not, you do seem to realize that your car has a slightly worse power to weight ratio. Regardless, your car does...

Yeah I dunno, I never paid attention to any of the EQ threads that Kegz was spamming. I just was kind of tangentially aware of it. Forbes article got PEWPEWPEW'd off the internet

Why is the discussion centering around $15/hour anyways? Just because it's a neat rough doubling of the current one? Up here in Soviet Canuckistan it sits at around $10/hr in most provinces, and seems to work fine. Besides, aren't there states and cities with minimum wages that approach...

That sucks. We just canceled all of our company phones and moved to instead reimbursing everyone who had one previously $70/month to cover work usage. In reality I doubt that for most guys the work usage is more than even a couple dozen bucks a month, all they'll have to do is bump their already...

    The Astronomy Thread

Yeah, I did some fiddling with numbers, using the oil industry as a comparison. A century of oil production at today's current rate is equivalent in weight to something like one hundred billionths of the moon's mass. So even if asteroid mining ends up being several orders of magnitude larger...

I meant the system as a whole. Everything from slow local transit to high speed transcontinental passenger trains to freight run on the same lines. It's not "simple" to automate that entire system. I'm sure this incident will be a big motivator to do more in that regard, certainly.

    The Astronomy Thread

Absolutely true. But do you think that James Watt could conceive of humanity producing and consuming 80+ million barrels of oil a day, to say nothing of coal or gas? Who knows where things will be in 250 years. I'm not talking about one asteroid, I'm talking about the cumulative effects of...

    The Astronomy Thread

Yeah, I'm aware of all that. I'm just saying that in a couple hundred years, we could well be bringing enough mass in to orbit around the Earth (or rather in to the Earth/Moon system) that it could cause issues. It's not going to be something that's an issue any time soon, but it's conceivable...

The first ULF (1.6 gallons per flush) toilets sucked, no question. But the current ULF's work great, and if anything some of the newest HET (1.28 gallons per flush) toilets flush even better while using less water. It's not really about how much water they use, it's how well designed they are...

What difference does it make what it's called? It's the same car. BMW has been talking about separating the 3 series coupes in to a 4 series for a decade or more. No different than the 5/6 series. As far as the engine change goes, that's not really surprising, it's all about getting better fuel...

haha. I was just being a smart ass. Sublimating is ice going straight to vapor (happens with ice cubes in your freezer). Water can't sublimate, since it's liquid. Phazael was being all Mr. Science about the movie, so I figured I'd be a smart ass and point out his improper terminology.
