Yeah, Grey moment, was thinking of the SDCC type thing, which these aren't. Think there's a disconnect here, he's talking about War of the Spark boxes not Modern Horizons or whatever. Retailers get the boxes for normal box prices, they're just limited in overall supply and foreign boxes are...

Most retailers can get ~ 3 boxes of Japanese a week or so in the States direct, so they're not super rare, but they aren't common either and it's a real niche market. Russian and Korean are in smaller supplies and tend to be worth more than Japanese, but Japanese cards tend to price ahead of...

    Well, now what?

A lot of them looked ok when the model was static, but virtually every Luclin model had worse animations than the older models. I never understood how that could happen nearly completely across the board like that. 1 or 2 models sure, but almost all of them?

Those 2 were actual reporters at one point. Then they realized that being sensationalist shitheads and spouting verbal diarrhea makes for ratings and multimillion dollar cable contracts.

I mean RG will obviously be a thing with this set, but after rotation will definitely be interesting to see what happens. People always complain about rotation, but I've always liked it because it's a much bigger shakeup than just adding a set.

Power level of magic sets has been in roughly the same range for pretty much the history of the game. It's just been focused on midrange permanents and expensive powerful spells when in the early days of magic it was focused on cheap things. The exceptions are when they fuck up a mechanic...

playing a full 12 shocks and still having to have basics or gates or whatever is definitely a huge cost to 3 color decks in block.

  25. Sterling

Well 2 color decks should be pretty easy, but 3 color decks should have a real cost to their manabase. 4-5 color decks should be very rare in Standard.

    MTG: Arena

My issue with Theros Standard was that the devotion decks were largely the same with Theros as they were later on. Also I generally liked Scrylands, 3 color mana bases should come at a cost, even if it's just 8+ of your lands always coming into play tapped. I also rather enjoyed the 1 Elixir...

Scrylands back in m20. I feel like there being a cost to playing 3 color manabases in Standard is good and that having mana as good as it is now should be rare and centered around gold card centric blocks like Ravnica.

Core sets are the same size as large expansions. There's plenty of limited cards and trash in every set. What you don't get in core sets nearly as much is linear mechanics like blocks get.

Well the core sets back then were absurdly powerful. But in general, they were getting used as ways of controlling standard/extended by reprinting whatever they didnt necessarily want in the blocks. In 2009 they started adding new cards to core sets with M10 and that's been how it's gone since...

Lakers really need to hit on Kemba or Butler, and hope they can get some cheap shooters. If they can get Kemba, and get like Reddick and some other dudes on exemptions/minimum type contracts they could be real good, but they've been kind of a hot mess so not sure how likely any of that is.

People want to make it seem like without Durant that Golden State is the same team that went 73-9 the season before he got there. But it's not true at all. Their bench/depth is nothing like it was then and if you think Iggy and Green are as good as they were 3-4 years ago you're crazy. That...
