Only thing I heard was that they said DoD cuts were off the table. So sounds like more uniparty nonsense.

    Who died? (Celebrity Deaths)

My 16 year old niece was listening to some cover of Radiohead's Creep, and then turned on the original. I was thinking it was kind of neat she knew the song, and when I looked it up, realized it's over 30 years old.

    Indiana Jones 5 (2020)

There's no way this movie is worth a shit if even half the leaks about the script are true.

    Mrs. Davis

It was explained as a glitch, like it saying "redirect, 1042" or whatever. Why it had dozens of people singing Electric Avenue as a glitch was kind of weird though. I imagine just for the shock effect of how fucking bizarre that'd be as an ending to an episode.

    Mrs. Davis

Yeah, this show was pretty fucking good. I'm hoping it's contained to one season because that was about perfect. Super weird which may put people off. But good mixture of genres and pretty solid. Oh yeah, and it also reminds me of that Wait Buy Why AI article I reposted the other day, and have...

Markets really shot up today. New YTD high. We're almost at 10% up for the year. Granted, after such a shit year last year that's not really meaningful. Wondering if we keep this rally up or go back to our sideways moves. My original prediction at the start of the year was that we'd see a fall...

I appreciate you putting Netflix in the title to remind me that despite people saying this is decent, that it's probably trash still.

No, we had a backhoe. We did a concrete truck for behind the framing, but the floor we did by hand.

We had a pool at the first place we rented in California (Mojave Desert). It cost a fucking fortune, and that was with the owners footing the bill for maintenance. Don't particularly want one ever again. We also put in an in ground pool for my brother in law about a decade ago. It was...

Nah, we didn't have it up until last week, and that was just for my wife's peace of mind. Cost us $450 or so for annual coverage. You do have to have hurricane (wind) coverage though, at least where we are.

I was really hoping this was all a hallucination while he was in prison. Then I found out this is the last season and it seems unlikely (mostly cause it's cliche, circa Bob Newhart).

For now. We chose where we're at because it's really got nothing touristy to do outside of the beach. But it's exploding like fucking crazy lately. We're already thinking we're going to have to leave within a decade. We used to visit the in-laws in Orange Beach, AL, and it was a quiet town...

Guess you convinced the wife that she didn't need the ocean? I think I mentioned before that my in-laws had some land there. Although we went there to check it out last year before my father-in-law died (I think he wanted to make sure his wife knew where it was and to get it all sorted out) and...

Meanwhile the house across the street from us had renters for the last year or so, and they decided they wanted to rent it out as a short term rental (we're close to the beach). We have a very small HoA ($150? a year), and all the neighbors around me put the kibosh on it. I hate HoA's in...

Why not up the ante and ask to see a script writer write something that's not trite garbage? Most of these people are hacks. That AI isn't writing super compelling stuff doesn't let the writers off the hook for doing the same.

Made me think of the Critical Drinker video on The Mandalorian. This was a filler episode. Most of it was pointless. If I'm checked out for 2/3 of the episode because nothing happened, that's not good.

I wasn't saying to actually do that, just pointing out that if the comps in the neighborhood are all valued at a million more than this, the land is likely worth that much. The house itself doesn't play into it that much.

    Home buying thread

I mean, seems like the land is valued at a million for all the other homes. Could buy it and do a brand new build and still make a massive profit?

Shit, yeah, didn't think about refinancing. That's definitely true. That said, the rates in the 2010's were pretty low. Our last house we bought in 2015 and it was like 3.5% or something w/ points. Current one is 2.7% bought in 2021.
  28. Gravel

Yeah, that's weird. Most boomers are retired at this point and wouldn't be buying a new house. It's Gen X and older Millennials that locked in those rates.

You don't get it. If we get rid of all these writers, we won't get a new all-female reboot of 80's classics or propaganda about George Floyd on every network television show. What are we going to do without that? We'll be missing out on so much "art."

Feel like @Furry answered your question. People could very well understand the FDIC would cover their money in a normal scenario, but when all the banks collapse, well...good fucking luck. Although the reality is more likely the dollar just collapses completely and it's all worthless.

I'm kind of confused about this. I really figured it'd be a function of people just dropping out of the workforce completely (boomers, lazy zoomers), but the labor participation rate is still ticking up.
