    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Yeah, we get where you are going and you're right that there are a lot of options now that didn't exist in EQ's "Golden Era." But that's not really why people tolerated/played/enjoyed EQ. I didn't play EQ because there wasn't anything else to do or because my options were limited. I played EQ...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Let's face it, most of the people in the thread would be very, very happy with an EQ reskin/reboot. They aren't going to find it hilarious, they are going to find it promising.

Legacy of FrostStone - A Velious Server

Any server on that server list COULD offer what you want. There are dozens and dozens of near empty servers on the server list. You'd honestly have a better chance of lobbying one of those servers. This guy has made it clear in no uncertain terms he isn't allowing boxing. Start working on...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Is it pure industry nepotism that allows that guy to keep popping up? I'm not trying to be a dick, but he didn't have a great rep at Sigil and my limited experience with him was not fantastic. And then there is quite a bit of angst towards him from his SOE transition. I'd like to think the...

Legacy of FrostStone - A Velious Server

Basically, yes. But I'd call it less historically accurate and slightly buggier than P99 instead. Bugs aren't really an issue though. I've only encountered one or two small bugs and the admin (can't ever remember his name) is very fast to fix them. The box's db and mechanics are very solid...

Legacy of FrostStone - A Velious Server

Totally different database and there are a significant number of relatively minor mechanical differences. Philosophically, the servers are identical and practically speaking they are pretty close (so far).

Legacy of FrostStone - A Velious Server

I gotcha. Then again, a lot of people would argue playing archaic mmos in general is throwing away your time. If you think those people are wrong, it becomes hard to apply the same criticism to LoF.

Legacy of FrostStone - A Velious Server

You seem very angry at this poor dude. I'm no revolutionary, but shouldn't he generally be able to do what he wants. Being, you know, his own server and all?

Legacy of FrostStone - A Velious Server

Having fun on server so far. For all intents and purposes, it's a mostly deserted p99. Only 10ish people on at any given time. No boxers. Server admin has made it clear he is sticking to his guns about making it legit and never allowing boxing. His goal is to slowly build up like p99 was...

    Legends of the Sword Coast

Thanks for investigating/reporting. I guess the bottom line is this isn't NWN. There are token creation tools but its extremely limited/restricted. No world building. That sucks. Oh well.

    Legends of the Sword Coast

That's what I was thinking- you can make little one-off dungeon crawls, but no persistent type worlds.

    Legends of the Sword Coast

Can you (or anyone) help me out with a little info. My research indicated the following: 1. You can't world build- i.e., you can do random little dungeons, but you can't make a world with overland, cities, multiple dungeons ect. True? 2. You are limited in the resources/stats/etc you use...

    Shadowrun Returns

They have proven they can put out a quality game. Now I just wish they would put out a full open-world BG style SR game. Something where you have full control over a main and up to 5 other characters in a sandbox world. Start in Seattle and just open it up. Find Johnsons and take jobs to...

    Health Problems

Everyone dies of cancer unless something else gets them first. It's not really a question of "if", it's a question of "when" and "where." What really turns people into carcinophobes aren't the stories of the people who die from cancer so much as the stories of people who find cancer early and...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Add a few skunk noises and then the sounds of being killed by a kobold runt you can't see, and you pretty much just described the classic Erudite necro experience.

Don't know much about New Bern, but it looks small and backwater-ey. I admit I could be totally wrong about the backwater part. Honestly, I think I need to at least be a short drive from (or actually in) a city of at least 100k+, preferably 150k+. I'm in Savannah now and it's a bit small at...

Public service announcement that SR: Hong Kong is now out. Even if you were a backer you might not have received notice- I was and I didn't. Downloaded it and created a character last night. Looking forward to playing today after work.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

We should all know the following by now about any mmo game in development: 1. Developer ideas, plans, promises, and nice words mean less than nothing. 2. Screen shots mean nothing. 3. Scripted promotional vids mean very, very little. 4. True, unscripted vids of actual gameplay are...

Any of those raving people on these boards? Anyone here actually live/have lived in Boise and can confirm that the weather is great, cost of living reasonable, friendly/progressive people, lots of things to do, etc? I mean, all that stuff makes it seem like "the new, less expensive Boulder"...

Yeah I checked out Boise after some people here mentioned it. Pretty solid spot it seems. Climate similar to Boulder and the city is a decent size. Tons of outdoor stuff. Very affordable.

I'm from VA and ironically it seems like the only state in the Union where I CAN'T find an opening... Charlottesville is pretty badass though. I spent a good amount of time there growing up. UVA undergrads can be a pain in the balls though.

    Best place to live

Med climate is pretty nice. But Boulder certainly doesn't have one and it's still near the top of the list because Boulder's climate is still nice enough to score high on that metric. Ironically I drove through Coeur two weeks ago on an epic road trip from Savannah to Portland, but due to...

This is actually not the first time I have heard of Boise as being a sort of hidden gem. However, like you, I share a little bit of skepticism that the weather is nice and that the city is big enough to sustain a decent culture/nightlife/cuisine selection.

Yeah... Unlike some, I learned my lesson from the first time. Even though I don't really regret it. It was very interesting and I loved living in San Diego. I have some good stories from it too. Of course, I'm no longer at a point in my life where I can afford to make $30,000 a year and get...

I spent a week in Austin to check it out because I had heard good things. I liked it to visit, but not to live. The music/culture/cuisine/nightlife aspects were top notch. Maybe I just missed some things, but Austin failed pretty hard on the outdoor things to do/local points of interest front...

Full disclosure I worked for Sigil in Carlsbad and lived right off the 101 in Encinitas. It was absolutely amazing coming from VA. I would never had left Encinitas, but we all know the parking lot story. Living in the SD area making 30k was hard enough, and I had no cushion for finding new...

I definitely researched it. Rent/mortgage is as expensive as SoCal but my pay would be less. Food/gas is even more expensive than SoCal. Plus it would be twice as far from family. Plus I have heard some disconcerting things about the locals and their friendliness. I mean, it's still...

I'd have to switch jobs to move out of the U.S. It's possible, but like I said, more difficult. Plus, some places are easier than others. I'd be with the Federal Gov wherever I go, so a lot of my limitations depend on the government's presence in whatever location. I have pretty much free...
