The Earthquake and Tsunami Thread. AKA Kiss Your Ass Goodbye

They say not to run outside during an earthquake, but all of the big ones we have (5.5+ or so). I don't know how to describe being right on top of an earthquake that big, but being inside just doesn't feel safe. Shit, being outside feels pretty bizarre too. I also wanted to point out, we've...

Fuck no. I'm originally from the east coast, and wife's family is from Illinois. I was planning on looking for a short-term transfer to the Florida panhandle around next summer. We really like the Gulf, we need no state income taxes for retirement, and there are a few bases there. We just need...

"Quiet" But that's just in comparison. Probably every 30 minutes we get a decent sized rumble. We're really just kind of over it. Been getting the van ready (posted originally in the Grape Vanning thread), which I never thought we'd need as a "go bag" because there are no natural disasters...

The Earthquake and Tsunami Thread. AKA Kiss Your Ass Goodbye

Got maybe 4 hours of sleep last night. There was a stretch around 2am where it just kept rumbling for like 10 or 15 minutes. Shit is whack. My wife is too scared to be in the house anymore. She's planning on just hanging out in the backyard, but it's going to be around 102 today. Luckily this...

The Earthquake and Tsunami Thread. AKA Kiss Your Ass Goodbye

My wife was talking to her friend earlier in Illinois (today is her birthday) and I think at that point we had had 250ish 2.5+ quakes, and like 1200+ measured in the last 24 hours. We've probably doubled that by now. So far anything above about 3.2 to 3.5 or so we can feel pretty well.

The Earthquake and Tsunami Thread. AKA Kiss Your Ass Goodbye

Honestly the big quake itself isn't the worst. This one lasted maybe 15 seconds. It's the anticipation of worse, and/or the fact that we keep getting smaller aftershocks that we never know if they're going to be big. Because even the big ones feel like a small one at first until it really...

The Earthquake and Tsunami Thread. AKA Kiss Your Ass Goodbye

Oh, nice. Didn't know we had an earthquake thread. So yeah, 4.5? I think yesterday morning, followed by the 6.4 (knocked out power for about 5 hours, only a picture frame fell off wall). Had probably 100+ aftershocks we could feel yesterday. Today was pretty quiet, maybe one an hour. Then a 5.0...

I've tried to maintain some anonymity around here, but we're in Ridgecrest. Probably 13-15 miles from the fault. Have had hundreds of aftershocks you could feel in the last 36 hours. At 4am we had a 5.4. And now with this one it's just like...is this just another foreshock to something bigger?

Fuuuuuuck. That was a big one. We're going to sleep in our van tonight. Still, oddly, not much damage. More shit fell off walls and whatnot.

Happy White Male Nationalism Day! (4th of July)

So what was your point? You said the holiday has been nothing special since you were 10. If you can't find meaning outside of fireworks and hotdogs, that's on you. I don't know how else to take what you said. Are you instead saying you were super patriotic as a child and now you're just an...

    The Little Mermaid (2023)

On its own, you're right. It's not a big deal. But it's part of a trend. Ghostbusters, the Oceans movie, BBC casting tons of blacks as nobles in period pieces, or making Greeks and Romans black. I always point back to how blacks are 13% of the population but seem to have an outsized...

Happy White Male Nationalism Day! (4th of July)

Let me guess, you don't give a shit about Memorial Day or Veteran's Day because no one's sucking your dick either, right? Maybe in a few years you'll grow up and learn to appreciate why this country is the greatest in the world. Otherwise you're doomed to be a shitlib.

That was my first quake in 7 years of living in CA. And we were uncomfortably close to it. Oddly, only had a broken picture frame. And no power. Getting lots of aftershocks every couple minutes too.

If you watch the replay, they actually would've won had he just micro'd them to kill Miracle's replica. The replica ended up killing 3 people I think, but had he just smashed it, game ends right then.

Arkk's Weight Lifting / Fitness Thread

Well, I got the 10 sets day done. Everything hurts though. The worst is my left rear delt. I'm thinking my triceps are so obliterated that my rear delts took over (or the triceps are pulling on the insertion). I've gotta say, even if it increases my bench press significantly, I can't recommend...

Arkk's Weight Lifting / Fitness Thread

Been doing 2 minutes for the first 4-5 sets, then I generally seem to need about 2.5 minutes for sets 5-6. Did 3 minutes for set 7 the other day and like 3.5 today, and then it was close to 4 minutes on set 8 today. Shit just absolutely destroyed me. For my normal workouts though, I generally...

Been meaning to do it for years, but I finally decided to try Smolov Jr for bench. I keep getting close to 275 one rep max, but never quite get there. Currently at 160 lb bodyweight, and I had a 250 one rep that I'm basing it on (tested 3 days before starting; have hit 250x3 and 255x1 in the...

This. People still won't admit that you can't have it both ways with a "currency." If you're using it to "go to the moon" and buy your lambos, it's absolutely fucking worthless as a means of trade. That's entirely too volatile for transactions. And that means all the crap people try to sell...

I've owned the game for many years, and I apparently never even made it to Sanctuary before. I guess the game never really grabbed me in the first bit of playthrough (even though I enjoyed Borderlands 1 a lot). Playing through it now with 2 friends and I wish I had given it a real go...
