One of the storyline rumors for Ep 8 from a while back was that Leia was going to be severely injured in an attack during Han's funeral or some other sort of ceremony. If that ends up being true then they have a basis for her stepping down as the leader of the Resistance.

The ones complaining about it are talking more about Tarkin and the amount of time he was on screen. CGI Leia wasn't as well done but was on screen so briefly that it's drawn fewer complaints.

The Empire plundered the jedi temples all over the galaxy for crystals. That's where some of the large ones came from. They also strip mined Ilum (where young jedi went as a rite of passage to find the crystals for their lightsabers) to it's core extracting crystals.

Well S3 is currently 2 years removed from the events of R1 and ANH. I can see them taking it right up to those so five seasons would be about right. And yeah seven seasons seems absurd, especially with a new series in the early stages of development.

Next season is already well into production, perhaps even close to being finished. They're usually a season ahead in terms of production from what you're seeing on television with their animated shows.
