Well, we usually play with a decently sized group so someone will inevitably be dedicated to vehicles. We recently did a complete playthrough of DF and only got into tier2 of the quests but DF has a lot more vehicle options. Fair enough though. There are always shitloads of mods to try.

I think the way to start having some success in Dark and Darker is to iterate on a single map until you are pretty comfortable with the spawns and extraction points. Eventually you will get some gear and get out by waiting quietly in the dark at some extraction point waiting on it to unlock...
