Sounds dangerous. What's that supposed to do? Also, think I'm just gonna watch some videos and tune up the carburetor, didn't really get properly done, we just got it running the best we could and started rolling. The weird thing is it'll get like this, and then the next day start right the...

Goddamned saw runs great. When it does. Thing is finicky as fuck. Ran it all day like a champ, then halfway thru the first cut on the second log, it crapped out and refuses to start. Got spark, plenty of gas, got compression. Must just flood and that's the end of it, come back tomorrow.

Think I found the problem. The saw is so powerful it's rocking that fucking log. I had it chocked because it's massive, but the saw is literally picking it up and throwing it around mid cut.

Ripping chain, almost brand new. So, probably not uneven sharpening. Takes about 5 minutes to go thru 5 feet, so I don't think feed rate is the issue. Just weird. I mean, it's nothing I can't plane out eventually, but goddamn, almost outta fucking ideas here.

Stack so far, and the final rig. I gotta admit though, I am kinda at my wits end. We leveled the bar. We leveled the rig. The top of the log is level. It's level in literally every plane across the entire rig. We secured the mount from moving in any direction. 1-1/2 on one side, 2" on the...

No, it's a great thought...I just didn't think of it first. Now I've got all the iron, so nbd. Slabbed that other log, leveled the mill in every direction. Sharpened both saw blades, rain just stopped, might be able to roll the other one over here shortly and get going. Pics and videos to come...

This should work. Got all the nuts and bolts for the threaded rod, forgot to get the hardware to deal with the angle iron. I've turned into the man I laughed at when I worked at Ace when I was a kid!

Aight, I think I've got bar flex figured out. Piece of angle iron going up from the saw mount about a foot. Piece of angle iron running over the saw parallel to it. Drill a hole in the bar near the tip, run threaded rod thru the hole, attach to angle iron, pull to level.

This may well turn into the small engine repair thread. Thing died 3/4 thru a cut. I figured it was out of gas...still plenty in there, but it's got a fuel filter on an end of a hose, so that could have came out of the fuel, so I filled it up. Unfortunately, nothing. Won't start. New spark...

Hot knife thru butter. However, modifications must be made. Do gotta figure out support for the far end of the bar.

I'll fire it up tonight. All I need to do is drill in the chocks to support the log and we're good to go.
  18. Cutlery

    Woodworking

There's that too. You don't actually need the saw level - you just need every cut to be coplanar.
  19. Cutlery

    Woodworking

So, I thought that too, but it turns out that it's not actually that springy. Once I level out the 21lb powerhead, all that's left is the natural spring in the bar, which isn't that much. I have this log leftover to run some tests on before I get to the bigger stuff. We'll see how it goes. I...

Yeah, but that's not unusual for me. I had chronic peptic ulcers for a long time, leading to inflammation in my small intestine which literally ends up blocking my stomach from working. It's probably from a combination of excessive ibuprofen use and excessive caffeine intake. Had to quit...

Saw mounted, leveled, ready to rock. Felt like shit today, so took it easy and only worked 10 hours. I'll fire it up when I get home from work tomorrow and see what we get.

Decided to check my home's value on Zillow since I got some bullshit on my discover account about "unlocking 440k of value outta my home" or some nonsense. Turns out, Zillow has me sitting at 471k for value. Which is hilarious, because I had trouble getting a fucking appraisal over 300k a year...

Norseman drill bits will drill thru 3.5 chainsaw bars. Just FYI. So, one hole is 25/64" instead of 3/8". Don't forsee that being an issue. Got the mount reinforced for the new saw, glue setting up now. Should be able to put it together and see if it will run up and down the saw mount...

Nah, I have the rerolled version too. Shadow Theif rolls 2-6's on their defense roll and goes Into The Shadows, which means you take no damage. Goes away at the end of YOUR next roll phase. So, if the guy right after you hits you, possible you're immune until it comes back around to you.

King of the hill mechanics make it pretty interesting at any player count, honestly. Although, Shadow Theif being OP in 1v1 is even more ridiculous in FFA. Can't hit me...and neither can anyone else this round!

Nah, it ain't about that at all. That would obviously be the easy way. This is for my kids. As I get older, I'm spending more time thinking about what I leave behind. No one's gonna remember what I did at work, but my kids are always gonna remember the nightstands and tables that used to be...

Yep, I got it now. Back in business. I think the grinder I had wasn't putting the hook on. The first run at sharpening got it passable. After I finish this log, I'll do it again before the next one and I should be in a good spot. Just these logs left...then the big fuckers.
