Well... it looks more like a duck on my piece of paper!
I had a break through with Algebraic that was followed immediately by a cold shower: the realization that solving the thing will be super long and with a ton of chess logic and since I am not very good at chess it sounds like it will be...
So I solved Message:
It's a sudoku with letters and the additional clue is that the yellow diagonal spells MERRYXMAS. The answer is supposed to be "Extract answer from completed grid by reading the top row from left to right." so: MXAHRYESP. Not the sexiest of answer, but if it was not a...
The answer to the second one is actually: xivThey want words or strings of letter as answers.
I worked a bit on Message which seems to be a sudoku of letters.
But wtf are Loot and Manifold Agreement?
Chess or checkers were my first lead for 2) but the pawns are never called workers (and checkers was a translation issue because the terms are different in french and english).
I guess we know it is a 7x7 board now since we have the answers for step 3 (but not how to find them).
Maybe I got the problem wrong, but my understanding is that we have 4 of the 7 definition for the across words and none of the X definitions for the down words and that the only way to find the 7th across word is to find the X down words that starts with the 4 letters we get from the 4 across...
I assumed the crossword puzzle did not have to be 7x7. As I found two decent answer in 4 letters, I went for 7x4 (also at a somewhat meta level, it's a lot easier to craft the puzzle with a 7x4 than with a 7x7).
And Troll's solution for the Shaka riddle is probably the one they expected...
1) Withdraw as sailors hold festive sing-song
2) It receives a worker and returns a queen <---- CELL as in the honeycomb cell where a worker's larvae is fed to become a queen?
3) Try and sing medley of violin parts <---- ALTO both a type of violine and a singing voice range
4) Fit for capture...
I'll edit the first post to put the most convincing theories.
Picasso's answer for Q3 has the benefit of working, but it seems a little too easy, especially after Q1 that asks you to find 5 of this type of straightforward conditions. Still, too simple does not mean wrong, so unless we find...
The Government Communications Headquarters, true to the tradition of creating puzzles to hire spies, posted a christmas puzzle on its web site. It's one of those "solve step 1 to find step 2, etc" thing.
Step one is a tedious picross puzzle that forms a QR code that leads...
I agree that it did not work well (even if this type of odd contemporary music / historical setting mix can work, like in The Knick). I doubt that will be an issue in the actual film though.
If you saw anyone going through the portal to go back to earth, you had a special version of the episode done just for you. But yeah, the timing was kinda iffy, but not out of the realm of the acceptable for this type of fiction.
It's obviously what killed her, but it's just unfortunate lack of medical knowledge, not suicide. She had no reason to kill herself and, even if she did, why would she choose a way that would hurt Thackery the most?
What a dick move! It's funny because the girlfriend of the lead character in another show just got killed and I said before it happened that the character ran its course unless something new could happen to make her interesting. Here, they do some foreshadowing by reviving the rabbit and give...
Yes. The game is not very long, but varied, original and very well executed.
Note that double analogue gamepad is pretty much mandatory for full effect if played on PC.
I am not a big fan of Her Story, but since the award is "best performance", the fact that Viva Seifert is acting and not "only" voice acting certainly helped. For reasons I will not spoil, her performance is a pretty subtle and challenging one that trailers don't do justice to.
I guess the writers also thought Roz was no longer an interesting character once her ambiguity vanished. A bit of a shame though, because they had enough interesting an actress to try and find something for the character. The best example of that is in Hart of Dixie where a totally peripheral...
My lack of professionalism is showing, because I googled the higher rez picture to do the xmas'ing, xmas'ed it at higher resolution and then resized it to avatar size, but of course at no point did I save the photoshop project that would have allowed me to give you in 10 seconds what you just...
Hodj said it all. I would just add that the puzzles are pretty clever and that there are several endings. The super secret and hard to get ending is one of the narratively most satisfying thing I ever encountered in a game. The problem is that it is very hard to get without using spoilers. I...
I did not play many games this year. Mostly some decent/interesting indies, but nothing on GOTY level. Still need to play Undertale, Jotun and The Magic Circle.
For now I would say the best game I played this year is The Talos Principle and the best 2015 I played this year is a toss up...
