If you get bored after leveling a char, farm up a couple gems of ease to lvl 25, pop em in the cube and get a couple leoric's items (ring/helm). You get lvl 45 in about a minute.

You almost have to treat intense fights like a turn based game. The consumables really make a difference.

The shock rifle helps immensely with this problem. ~3600m range and decent damage. Not to mention one shotting the drones is pretty satisfying. That said, there are instances that you just can't avoid sometimes.
