Edit: Sorry, started the holiday weekend early, and missed it on the last page.

Yeah, I know the sections of 6 I've had to drive through are nuts. It's just thick Houston development, just like you see south of 610 along the 45 Gulf Freeway.

This... We moved from New Orleans to Brenham back in '93, but my dad lived in the Clear Lake area since the early eighties. Going to visit him from Brenham down 290, there was literally nothing between Highway 6 to College Station until maybe hitting Cypress. Hempstead, Waller, Hockley; none...

Looks like we managed to avoid most of the serious flooding in the area. Our little neighborhood is right west of Lake Woodlands in Panther Creek. Told my girlfriend to keep checking the drainage ditch by the school near our house when walking the dog, and if it started overflowing the banks...

Most folks have flood exclusions on their policies. Basically, the insured will file a claim, carrier comes out, confirms it's flood damage, then deny the claim. The claim then gets kicked over to FEMA (don't quote me on that), or whatever government body that processes that shit. Carriers...

I remember during Ike, my stepsister and her husband evacuated Galveston and drove to my folks in Brenham. Took them 24 hours for a drive that normally takes 3ish along 290. Most gas stations were completed sold out of fuel, and luckily they made it, but talk about a trek.

Holy shit it's getting bad. Luckily my neck of town is holding out, but I guess we'll see how things look by tomorrow. Hope the rest of you Houstonians are staying safe and as dry as possible.

Seems like the Woodlands is just getting some heavy rain in waves as of now, but none of the drainage ditches by the house are rising, and the streets are clear. No power outage either. Going to remain hopefully optimistic for now. Any of you guys closer towards Galveston, stay...

How bad is Houston supposed to get it? I'm in SC for work right now, but our home is in the Woodlands and girlfriend was in San Antonio on her way back home. We're trying to come up with a game plan on whether she should continue on today to get the pets. There's also the traffic concerns...

Totally forgot about The Night Flier and Graveyard shift. Both of those were fairly decent B-movies.

    Stephen King's The Dark Tower

I agree, they sure do fail, and the movies get bleaker and bleaker as they go on. They're just some shitty random friends dealing with a cosmic horror. Reggie narrates that the Tall Man has been moving across the country and towns are abandoned, and you get this sense of a greater apocalyptic...

    Stephen King's The Dark Tower

The Phantasm movies are great. They were a huge labor of love for Don Coscarelli. I know there was talk of remaking them (maybe JJ was involved) back in the early 2000's I think, and they had were planning to make them the "Starwars" of horror films. Guess that shit never got off the ground...

    Stephen King's The Dark Tower

Hey, The Mangler wasn't bad, it had Buffalo-fucking-Bill. Best is probably The Mist, or any of the other Frank Darabont adaptations. Christine is up there, because Carpenter knows how to make a film. Problem is you get start watching all the made for TV mini-series, and while some are worse...

    It (2017)

Agreed. Didn't have high hopes at all for this, and still a bit wary (trailers and all that shit), but crossing fingers that this might be one of the better adaptations. May even be as good as Christine. At least it looks hands down better then The Dark Tower bullshit, so that's a plus.

I'd probably go with The Deep next. Little Heaven got a little disjointed, but still isn't a bad book. Haven't read the one other (can't remember the name) that he has out about some sort of religious dystopia.

Very first CD I ever owned. Got it for Christmas from my brother. Whole fucking album, to this day, still fucking kicks ass. Had friends in Austin during the late 90's early 2000's and apparently there was a big ambient music scene where folks used to roll out to the countryside, eat shrooms...

Are you reading it or doing the audio version? Either way, it's a pretty grim novel, but the audiobook really elevates a couple of specific scenes that make it even more horrific. Regardless, great narration / performance. You'll enjoy The Deep if you pick it up next. Much more Lovecraftian...
