Any special rules you're going to follow? I've been trying to break the game but feel like I'm missing something essential, but don't want to stop. Beating a boss with my faith dragonborne build is so cheesy. I feel like a no summons, no talisman playthrough would be interesting. Maybe no...

Agreed. I wouldn't mind seeing them ride on elden ring for a long time like gta5 and skyrim. Ok, maybe not thaaaat long.

Oblivion was a great game. It got a lot of shit because the "do anything be anything" approach fell flat in some areas, like leveling scaling. Some of the freeform stuff (NPC faces and AI, automated questing) were too ambitious and under-delivered. And they followed one of the most unique set of...

yes, right before I posted this. Didn't die from the jumping and almost never die but I'm developing vertigo from this shit.

I can't take the stress of another one of these massive towers. The tower of Liurnia was just too much. This game is giving me acrophobia. There had better not be any heights in Lyndel.

the pedals are useful but more for fun. Personally I don't feel comfortable with joystick camera controls or WASD character movement, so the fusion of the two of them really makes the game enjoyable in ways that previous dark souls weren't.

not a stupid question, I think a lot of people are wondering the same thing right now with how much post-release ER hype there is. If you pick a solid starter build, follow a guide or two on easy early game loot, progress through the game by doing the easy content first, the game is not that...

re: online play and messages, I don't know if it's because a week post-release or because I'm in the mid-game, but the signal/noise ratio has gotten a lot better on the messages. They're useful, unique and entertaining enough that I'd rather play with the narrow console pleb screen view and keep...

I read that Eleonars Blade and other arcane weapons have no weapon scaling due to a bug currently. Not sure if that excludes them from being good at later levels or not.

On one hand I kind of like that there are probably broken builds out there. Online gaming's desire to have a level playing field makes everything feel boring and neutered. OTOH the allure of build meta and theorycrafting goes away if there are obvious "lol just delete mobs with this comet"...

What weapon skills tho? I guess what I'm really wondering is whether a hybrid build is gimped because if you're casting you're not swinging your weapon, but I don't know if there aren't like, mid-tier spells that really help a weapon swinging class. Maybe what I really need to do is play a...

It doesn't matter that much. Where it matters is you can't drop your stat allocations below the starting values when you respec. I think it'll be normal for players to respec throughout the game, so if you roll astrologer and halfway through respec to full STR build, you'll be carting around 16...

Speaking if respecing, I unlocked respeccing and am looking to switch from a str to a spellsword build. Just something that casts shit and swings a light, fast sword. Any good combinations of spells and weapons to go for and stat allocations to use?

Roll samurai to start, seems to be the best introduction to the game. The game is massive and it makes a lot of sense to respec one or more times to try out the different builds. In previous games you'd only want to do this by replaying the game.

anyone else getting really tired of the cremasteric reflex getting triggered from trying to get items near ledges? A pain in the nether regions, I haven't had it this much since jedi knight.

consumables is just one additional way dark souls games can use to make you cry and make pros look magnificent. I hate them with pure envy and regret.

I can barely remember what I did four days and 40 levels ago. Half my workplace is playing this game and talking about things I know I've done but have no memory of doing.

I'm planning the same, am clearing out each area as much as possible before moving on. It's going to be a loooong haul though, especially if there's some arduous post-game content.

I've permanently grafted the HP regen talsiman around my cock Godrick style. But seriously, I only swap it out for tough boss fights that are over quickly one way or the other.

I audibly count the times (I think it's 6??? I think they might change it up tho....) when they do that. I love this game.

Sticking to a giant mob's ankle is a tried and true Souls strategy. My problem is having to memorize where he is going to swing his sword or breath on me based on how he wiggles his toe. It's kind of obnoxious. I wish there was a way to zoom out further, but that's elden ring, baby.

parry is fun but it increases the important of memorizing boss animations. Would be a smoother learning curve if the game told you that you were too early or too late.

did you fight he has razor thin margins for attacking for most builds, including greatsword. I'm not sure how many other bosses are like that.

They do a great job balancing the mounted combat and the "group" combat with your summon. You can go into a dungeon, spend a bunch of time on foot enjoying that traditional Dark Souls dungeon experience, then get a break from that having a bit less serious mounted combat, then there will be...
