Elden Ring - From Software + George RR Martin

ER's story is compelling and the world-building is interesting because it's so different from traditional open-world games. It's a dystopian horror set in a fractured world with NPCs stuck in a disassociative fugue whose only purpose is to make vague yet poetic remarks to the player. There's...

I've been jumping weapons to keep things fresh and they did a really good job balancing the different attack modes so they are situationally useful. It's been a while but I remember in previous souls game spending most of my time leaning on 1 to 3 options.

If you enjoyed playing Witcher 3 on a hard difficulty and liked exploring the world you'll probably enjoy ER. It's a fantastic game and just because you really enjoyed the quests in Witcher3 doesn't mean you'll miss them in another game. #diversityisstrength

ER feels like my favorite part of Baldur's Gate 1: the first half where you explore all the overworld areas and some dungeons with minimal dialog. I've replayed BG2 once and BG1 several times. If BG2 had less city stuff, less dialog/quests I'd probably have replayed the entire series multiple...

yeah I take the chucklefuck gargoyles seriously everytime and am not embarrassed at all when I die to them. In addition to their mini-me hitboxes, their moveset is very agile and vicious and they dodge more than most mobs in the game. They also hide in the most insidious of locations.

The most embarrassing deaths I've had are from the mangy dogs. I'll just casually rush them, miss my attack and get stun locked to death.

Is that a golden halberd thing tho? Or do all halberds have it. Will get the Lucerne and try it out the movesets with the GH I guess.

I love basically every mechanic change they made in ER relative to DS. Probably the biggest thing for me is ditching all the hallowing garbage in DS. I hated spending 99% of the time looking like a zombie.

The only thing you're gimping yourself with is not upgrading your great sword. If you like the moveset you can keep upgrading virtually any weapon and it'll be perfectly fine until you get the ability to respec. All low-grade smithing stones can be farmed, so don't hoard them.

I want to try a polearm before respecing, what's a good halberd for someone with 40str, 14dex, 10faith and 10 int? I don't mind boosting my faith a couple points for the golden halberd, but not sure if I should farm and upgrade something else.

I've been thinking about why this game is so enjoyable, and I think it's because there are no quest hubs, NPC stories, whatever. It's open world RPG distilled to its purest form. There's no burden of "you just opened up this area, now go talk to these 20 village people who all need their dick...

Hemorrhage takes off a % of the enemy's health bar, which could be really powerful if bosses don't just totally mitigate it or have such a high "hemorrhage" pool that it'll trigger like, once per fight. I think once I get the ability to respec I'll go from str build to dex/arcane and try this...

literally the only asmongold vid I've ever watched was him quitting ER and the whole thing seems like a subscriber ploy, but I don't know him at all. Just seems suspicious to have one of the most popular open world games come out and make a big fuss about being too intimidated by it. If he...

30 hours would be a respectable normie speed run, like someone on their third playthrough casually seeing how quickly they could beat the game. Especially if they didn't use any of the ez rune-farming techniques.

Some folks asked for my info on my goofy ass setup so I created the below diagram. Basic principle is simple: mouse in right hand for pointing camera, gamepad in left hand for controlling character movement, pedals for actions with "hold" behavior like sprinting or guarding. Pedals are poor for...

    Satisfactory

Not really. Because there are almost no restrictions on belt design and the inclusion of a vertical dimension the utility in really precise layouts is small compared to Factorio or Dyson Sphere Program. In other words, the difference in cost, power draw etc, between an ultra-clean and efficient...

there's quite a few mini-quests that require you to swing at something with no guidance that it's the right choice. There's one that . It's a little obnoxious because you don't know if you're permanently failing the quest or just doing it.

I'm kinda considering respeccing once that unlocks to something like a spellsword or maybe fully caster I dunno. I'm currently using a str build now with a greatsword and it's fine, but this is such a huge game it'd be nice to try different options.

The flow I've settled in is to wander to each location, "clear" it, and then check https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Interactive+Map to see if I've missed anything. It got tiring trying to be thorough in each area, knowing that you might be missing a high-value Smithing Stone, weapon etc...
