    2 years later... the almost sad state of MMOs in the new era

    Essentially, the only non-asian triple AAA game for the next two years is Amazon's New World. That's it. And the only non-asians, non-triple AAA games are crowdfunded/early access scammed shits.

    2 years later... the almost sad state of MMOs in the new era

    At least Torchlight Frontiers got redone as Torchlight III which isn't a micro-transaction riddled pseudo-MMO but a classic multiplayer successor to Torchlight II.

    My problem with WoW is that every game-as-a-service has converged slowly on the same set of solutions to keep people playing and rake in the cash from the "service". FOMO. Fear Of Missing Out. That's an exaggeration, since there are rares and uncommon with those alternate frames (or rares with extended art). But overall, you still get close to 1 mythic per pack, which is absolutely insane rates.

    The Astronomy Thread

    Neutron stars are very energetic and material objects. Two neutron stars merging produce a "kilonova", so-called because it's about 1000 times the effect of a normal nova. A supernova would be 10-100 times that, but it's still a very violent event if you're close. But if something happened...

    Yea. The only thing giving out gravity waves are so energistic, Earth would be ALREADY done for if that happened in Betelgeuse for some reason.

    The latter. Once the nose capsule detached, the aerodynamic profile was horribly wonky and destabilized the whole thing, until the first stage blew up. The second stage apparently fell down more or less intact into the sea.

    Just to be clear, they've also indicated how roguelike. If you have ever played Lost Dungeons of Norrath... then that's how roguelike it is. Basic floor sets with random "walls" closing some parts of it. I cannot wait until the players in beta scream at how the tower is randomly unplayable that...

    He's been spending a long time (compared to the other books), so the common speculation is that he hit writer's block, and slapped something together in frustration. So you end up with a filler, and either you'll drop the series in disgust, or you STILL have to wait for a real book to come.

    7.3.5 was bugfixes and level scaling below 100 (6 months after Argus). The last content patch was 7.3. Same reason I ignored 1.12, I only took the last actual content patch of the expansion.

    Patch 7.3 -> 8.0 = 13 months. Patch 6.2 -> 7.0 = 13 months. Patch 5.4 -> 6.0 = 13 months. Patch 4.3 -> 5.0 = 10 months. Patch 3.3 -> 4.0 = 10 months. Patch 2.4 -> 3.0 = 7 months. Patch 1.11 -> 2.0 = 6 months (I'm ignoring 1.12 which had no new content). We haven't had anything that fast since LK.

    The Astronomy Thread

    Why? At 600 LY, a supernova isn't dangerous. The estimated range at which a supernova could trigger a mass extinction is estimated between 100 and 50 LY. At 150 LY, you'd get the equivalent of a couple CT-scans per year, which might get an uptick in cancer rates. At 600LY, it's totally...
